The purpose of working with personas is to be able to develop  solutions, products and services  based upon the needs and goals of your users. Be sure to describe personas in such way so as to express enough understanding and empathy to understand the users.   You should include details about the  user’s education, lifestyle, interests, values, goals, needs, limitations, desires, attitudes, and patterns of  behaviour . Add a few fictional personal details to make the persona a realistic character.  Give each of your personas a name

Better understanding of  WHO  the users are WHAT  is their attitude  HOW  they behave towards the problem and potential idea If we do not understand who the users are, most probably we are not able to design a solution that  best fit their needs .

HMW design a program that would make the river cleaner

If we stop asking for more questions and stop looking for more inspiration

What if people keep throwing rubbish and do not care about the environment? Do we need to employ more cleaning services?

CONCLUSION : If the idea is based on “cleaning”, we will not be able to sustain the environment in the long term since the source (actions, attitude) from the people is not tackled. Therefore,  no ideation or any solution should be offered at this stage .

HMW change people’s mindset and habit towards better environment with the supports from the authority and environmentalist.

If we skip the interviews and other research effort

1. Interactive save the earth campaign and promotion.

May increase awareness, but will people take the actions?

2. Fine and penalty for throwing out thrash.

Punishment may not work to change people’s behavior.

3. Creative education program for the school children about the importance of cleanliness and the earth.

May work, but it covers only a small group of the population.

CONCLUSION : If the idea is based on “just changing the mindset”, we will not be able to sustain the environment in the long term since the source (actions) from the people is not tackled. Therefore,  more iteration exercises should be conducted.

So now we continue by identifying constraints, challenges and looking for inspirations

How does Persona Relate to the Challenge? Clean River Challenge

It would be game changing to create a sustainable program/ process/system of recycling that maybe utilise IT that would generate income for the users and people.

Identifying the persona:  user’s education, lifestyle, interests, values, goals, needs, limitations, desires, attitudes, and patterns of  behaviour

Demographic Profiles: Gender	- Education  Age group	- Employment Marital status	- Living with (alone, family, friends)

So now we conduct research ( eg  interviews) and looking around for inspirations

Attitude, habit, values, behavior: What is your understanding about recycling? Do you agree waste separation is part of recycling? How do you think waste separation will be beneficial for your family, community and the environment? Do you practice regular waste separation? Why not? If you do waste separation, do you think how you do it is effective for the environment? Do you think waste separation should be enforced by the municipal? Do you think you are responsible for the environment? Will you sacrifice comfort for the earth and environment? Do you have a smartphone? Are you digitally competent? Are you worries about Internet security? How do you like the idea of getting income from your waste?

Based on the user identification, we conclude There is a mixed group of users from different background. However, they share some commonalities: They have a good understanding of recycling and care about the environment. However, while majority like the idea of recycling to generate income, some of them are a bit hesitant about separating the waste, and most of them are also not willing to clean the recycling items (washing the plastic food containers, cans, bottles). Therefore, it creates a tiny challenge for the program. We must identify what we should do to motivate them to clean and separate the waste. They are tech savvy and have a good understanding of Internet security.

Concept Description Basically it integrates the recycle  center  and the apps that will be developed A recycling  system that gives monetary rewards (or  vouchers)  to the users.  It r equires the waste (recycled items) to be cleaned and separated before sending them to the recycle  center To participate, users need to register to  WeKlin   and will get the barcode, which need to be send together with the recycle items

Self-identity with the  WeKlin  bag/tumbler/food container to show we care and let’s do it together Self-fulfilment: easy and convenient recycling program that saves the earth Recycling is a cool habit , and we  can create a trendy phenomenon – for the people and the earth!
