Introduction. The main purpose of marriage is to extend the descendant. Islam enjoins its believers to have faithful, moral and compassionate children by choosing a pious spouse in the first place. Prophet Muhammad SAW also urged to marry and have many children so that the people of Muhammad will be more numerous. Moreover, the Gospel of Genesis in Christian says, "Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth." The nature and character of God is to multiply life, whereas the nature and character of Satan is to multiply death. This obviously shows that marriage is the legal way to prolong the offspring..

Marriage is one of the ways to show the obedience of the believers to their religion. Islam and Christianity require their believers to marry someone because having a partner between man and woman is  part of human nature . Allah says in Al-Quran, “Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and what they do not know,” (Yassin, 36:36). Therefore, people are obligated to fulfill their nature according to the requirements of their religion, which is marriage.

In terms of syarak, it is a contract that specifies the rules and conditions that must be met in order to allow and legalize sexual intercourse. Marriage is a Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w ., which is encouraged in Islam and required by Islamic Law. Answering the Call of Nature, Preserving Morality From Evil And Corruption, Creating Peace Of Mind And Stability Of Spirit, Getting Descendants, Improving Worship, and create a happy family.

Christian marriage is a solemn and public covenant between a man and a woman in the presence of God, intended by God for their mutual joy; for the help and comfort given one another in prosperity and adversity; and, when it is God's will, for the procreation of children and their nurture..

For Christians, marriage goes beyond the earthly covenant as a divine picture of the  relationship between  Christ and his Bride, the Church . It is a spiritual representation of Christians relationship with God.   ( The ninth book of the New Testament : Galatians 3:28 )
