Type-I Diabetes. Type-I Diabetes. Affected Population:- 5 % to 10 % of Diabetic population Age :- Below 20 Years Occurrence :- Complete loss of β - cells due to autoimmunity Treatment :- Insulin injection Other name :- Juvenile Diabetes or IDDM ( Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus).

Type- II Diabetes. Type-II Diabetes. Affected Population:- 90 % to 95 % of Diabetic population Age :- More than 4 0 Years Occurrence :- Y our body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t effectively use the insulin it does make. Treatment :- Oral Antidiabetic Drugs (OAD’s) , insulin injections Other name :- Mature onset Diabetes or NIDDM ( Non Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus ).

Affected Population:- 2 % to 3 % of Diabetic population Age :- During Pregnancy Occurrence :- The hormones released from the placenta during pregnancy makes a cells less sensitive to the effects of insulin Treatment :- Diet modification and Insulin injection if required Other name :- None.
