Youth Exchange is a youth leadership development program where students travel to a foreign country and live with a family there. Through Youth Exchange, students learn a new language, discover different cultures and customs, and make friendships that last a lifetime..

This journey does not happen overnight, but will take between 1 and 5 years So, through being involved in Youth Exchange, you can build a bright future for your club by: a) Getting more funding b) Getting more members c) Sponsoring & supporting R-Y-L-A students d) Sponsoring & mentoring Interact clubs e) Sponsoring & mentoring Rotaract clubs. Did you know? Youth Exchange, Interact and R-Y-L-A are C-L-U-B Projects, run by you, but administered by District Committees..

[Audio] Youth Committee Youth Officer Youth Exchange Officer Interact Coordinator RYLA Coordinator Club Counsellors Are you aware that Youth Exchange is the O-N-L-Y Rotary International Certified project for Rotary Clubs? Each year the District needs to confirm many and various requirements from RI to achieve certification in order to participate in exchanging students with other Certified Districts in the world. You need to have a Youth committee headed by the club Youth Officer. Youth Exchange Officer Interact Coordinator R-Y-L-A Coordinator Club counsellors.

[Audio] Interact Coordinator School Interact Officer teacher School Interact Officer teacher School Interact Officer teacher School Interact Officer teacher School Interact Officer teacher This is probably the most crucial person on the committee as Interact gives us a ready market for members The teacher will be the contact person for each Interact club and should be a member of the club Their fees can be paid from fundraising as Youth is one of the 5 RI Avenues of Service Community Service chair What projects does your club have? Did you do Easter eggs? School donated 4500 marshmallow eggs Did you do blankets? School donated R11211 – 165 blankets Did you do hygiene packs? School donated 100 packs – soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, face cloth Do you know the saps has a comm serve officer? Contact them to take you to underprivileged schools or organisations that they support.

[Audio] To Be Successful Y-E-X Deserves Same Resources People Time Financial Youth Exchange is a Club based project, but administered by District. To be successful, it deserves the same resources as any other club project. These being People, Time and Financial. Without these, the Youth Exchange project within the club will struggle to survive and play its major role in the growth of the club..

Firstly, the club always needs new members, as there is a natural attrition due to economic factors, age and people relocating. Do you want or need to increase your club membership?.

[Audio] Ltep Membership Step Membership How Youth Exchange can help your club with membership For each Long Term inbound student that you host you have access to Not 1, Not 2, BUT 3 Host Families you can involve in your club For each short term student that you host, you have access to 1 family you can involve in your club. Generally a club handles more Short Term students than Long Term students, thereby increasing the number of families..

Mostly Non-Rotarians Generally in their early to mid forties Enthusiastic Financially sound Professionals or Business owners Good network of friends By being involved in the Youth Exchange project, you will have access to the student's parents who will be very amenable to your approaches. Who are these parents and will they make good Rotarians Our statistics show that around 95% of Youth Exchange parents are Non-Rotarians. These parents are in the age category 40-55. They are vibrant, have loads of energy and are generally looking to help make a difference in their communities. They are also generally in the higher income brackets..

[Audio] Help Get Funding for your Projects Secondly, every club needs money to fund their various charitable projects. By being involved in the Youth Exchange programme your club will: a) automatically increase its funds by new member contributions b) have more hands for your fundraising efforts, thereby increasing your donations c) have access to foreign funding by being able to correspond directly with the Presidents of foreign Rotary clubs – we give you all their contact details d) qualify to apply for District and Global Grants by being involved in joint ventures with these foreign clubs..

Primary Jobs Promote the Club as an entity Promote the projects of the Club Solicit assistance for Club projects Secondary Jobs Promote their school Promote school projects The student is not along for the ride. He has a job of work to do on behalf of the club. The student will not be able to do his job and be beneficial to the club if you do not involve him in your meetings and your projects. This forms part of their training..

[Audio] OUTBOUND President Foreign Club INBOUND President Foreign Club Funding Via Long Term Exchange INBOUND OUTBOUND President Foreign Club Funding Via Short Term Exchange Long term students can open the doors to 2 loads of cash For each Long Term student you sponsor: Your club will host a Long Term inbound student which gives you easy common access to the President of the inbound club Your outbound student will be hosted by a club in a different country which gives you easy common access to another President For each Short Term student you sponsor: Your club will host a Short Term inbound student which gives you easy common access to the President of the inbound club, (which will be the same as the receiving outbound club.).

APPOINT CLUB YouTH OFFICER and Committee Liaise with Schools, Youth Exchange, Interact, R-Y-L-A Students do presentations to their foreign Rotary Club Students promote your projects to foreign Rotary Club Train / involve Outbound students in Club & Projects Train / involve Inbound students in Club & Projects Give students club banners to exchange The first thing that needs to happen is for the club to appoint a Youth Officer whose job it will be to implement and oversee the Youth portfolio of the club. Because of the in-depth understanding, training and organisation that is needed, this should be someone who is prepared to view this as a minimum 3-5 year appointment..

We have always said ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK the parents and the students to attend club events especially fundraising events Invite them to attend, and involve them in club social meetings, club social events, club projects and fundraising events.
