Facts and History about Pizza

Pizza was made in Italy, however it was consumed by Romans and Greeks. The first pizza was made in June 11, 1998 to honour the queen consort of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, the Neapolitan pizzamaker Raffaele Esposito created the “Pizza Margherita”.

Weighing scales, baking trays, mixing bowl, sieve, measuring spoon, measuring jug, flour dredger, rolling pin, spreading knife, sharp knife, chopping board and a palette knife.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Grease or line two baking trays. Sift together the flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir in the yeast Add the oil and enough warm water to mix into a soft dough. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes on a lightly floured work surface. Place the dough bases on to baking trays. Spread the pizza sauce over the base Slice the mozzarella cheese. Arrange the slices of cheese over the tomato sauce. Place the pepperoni over the cheese. Chop the basil and sprinkle over the pizza. Place in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes.

Top Tips

Why not add cooked sausage or chicken, or canned tuna? Add a spoon of pickle or chutney for extra spice. Try different types of cheese or different toppings such as: tuna, sweetcorn, sliced tomatoes, olives and pesto. Also don’t forget a pizza stone for better heat segregation. It can be in rectangular shape which its called flatbread.
