It was the only bed I slept in the whole entire time of service. When I got ready to leave, she pinned a scarf around my neck, and it was still on me when I left Germany. Wounded on the right side of the hip in Belgium on December 23, 1944, his commander sent him a note to him where he laid, "He said he'd get me if I could make it till dark rescued on Christmas Eve. He came back and got me and that's all I remember until I came to the hospital. To hurt to remain in Germany he was shipped to Nashville, TN at Thayer U.S. Army General Hospital where he stayed at for 6 months. Which was later renamed VA Hospital. Reid was met by a nurse working there at the hospital named Margaret Moulton, she helped him off the stretcher. That's where he fell in love with her. Eleven months later we married on December 3, 1946, We had 1 girl and 3 sons, Diane, Terry, Donald "Don", Danny "Shorty".
