To iterate through a defined range of Excel, use For Each Excel Row Activity. The “In range" specified where the range to be repeated. The process inside For Each Excel Row activity to be iterated.

Specifies the range to be iterated. The process will be repeated line by line within the specified range

If the first line of the range is the header line, check “Has Headers".

Drop here the activities to be iteratively processed

For example, the first line is a header insists the contents of each column, and the actual iteration process starts from the second line in SupplierLists.xlsx.

F) File Movement Activity - Create Folder, Move File

The remaining task is to move SupplierLists.xlsx to the Registered folder. If the folder does not exist, use the Create Folder activity to create it. Also, to move a file, use the Move File activity.

Specify the path of the folder to be created. If the specified folder already exists, nothing will be done

Specify the destination folder. If you want to rename the file, specify <folder path>\<filename>(full path)

Check “Overwrite” to overwrite an existing file. If “Overwrite” is not checked and the same name file already exist, an error will occur.

 The folder on the PC where the created project is stored is called the project folder. Click Open Project Folder on the ribbon to display the project folder.

What is a Project Notebook? 1) Outline of Project Notebook

Project Notebook is an Excel file that is a part of each process within Studio X.  Project Notebook is used to store the values such as an email address, a file path and dates that the robot will be using during an automation. Also, Project notebook is used calculating numbers.

Click Notebook icon on the ribbon to open Project Notebook

The project notebook contains the pre-described formulas from the beginning. As is, it can be used to edit dates, perform calculations, retrieve file names from file paths, etc., and can also be used as a sample formula.

A blank sheet of paper that can be used freely. It can be used to store values.

You can get today‘s date or a date formatted. Formulas are provided to determine the end of the month.

Samples are provided for converting to uppercase and lowercase, calculating string length, and removing white space.

Samples are provided for example converting text to a numerical value (clone-up) and more.

A sample is provided to separate folder and file names from the full path of a file.

Project notebooks, unlike other regular Excel books, can be read and written from anywhere in the project without using the Use Excel File activity. As an example, let's get the date on the project notebook. First, check the project notebook.

Cell B12 of the Date sheet, it displays today's date

Today's date is obtained with the Excel formulas

Excel allows you to name cells. If a cell has a name, the name is displayed in the name box when you select the cell. The B12 cell we will use is named “Today".

Let's run the project. If created correctly, the SupplierList.xlsx is added today’s date.

Close all Excel files. Close Edge window and click the Run button on the StudioX ribbon. Do not operate the mouse or keyboard during execution.

SupplierList.xlsx is moved to Registered folder and renamed with today’s date.

C) Variable 1) What is Set Variable Value

If you want to save simple values, there is also an activity for saving variables. Separate from project notebooks, this is a feature specialized for saving values.

You can define the saved value in the Text Builder or Excel cell such as the Project Notebook.

The saved value can be used in other activity. When you use it, Use Variable from the ⊕ button -  select the name that you set in the Set Vriable Value

Tips One thing to do and configure in one place is the law of project creation. Inconsistencies can occur, such as correcting one or more such things on changes when there are multiple places in the same place.

We generate folder names in two places, which makes together with Variable

Hint First create  the folder name Set Variable Value and use the saved valuein Create Folder and Move File .
