Tribute to Sylvestor Timbi and the Men Behind the Vision "Every great story begins with a vision… And ours was born in the heart of a man named Sylvestor Timbi. A man whose faith ran deep, Whose devotion never wavered, And whose sacrifice echoes through generations." "In the late 1970s, Sylvestor and a few believers gathered in a humble bush house. No walls of stone. No roof of tin. Just raw faith… and open hearts. They sang. They prayed. They believed. They worshiped with joy, with hope, and with hearts full of praise. And the Holy Spirit moved mightly amongst them. "But one day, that house was set ablaze. By angry men including the old man Mr. Yapi Ropa. Why? Because Sylvestor had done the unthinkable. He forgave the man whose truck had taken his daughter`s (Maggie) life." They could not understand his forgiveness… Forgiveness for the man whose truck had taken his daughter’s life." "They called him foolish. They said he has lost his mind. They said the church was poisoning minds. But Sylvestor stood firm. He chose grace over revenge. He chose Christ over conflict." He believed in the power of the Gospel. And he believed that the church must rise again." "And from the ashes, they built again. This time, a permanent structure. But Sylvestor wasn’t done dreaming." "In the late 1990s, he cast a bold vision: To build a new church. A place that would rise above the hills. A beacon of hope and faith for generations to come." That was the birth of Pou Church Building Project. The dream was his, and though Sylvestor left this world in 2004… His vision did not die." "Because behind that vision stood great men. Men of faith. Men of courage. Men who gave generously—in cash, in kind, in prayer, and in service." "Some of them are still with us today to celebrate the fulfilment of that vision. And some have gone to be with the Lord. But each one played a part. Each one laid a stone. Each one carried the dream forward." For nearly two decades, the church family carried the torch. They prayed. They worked. They gave. They believed. Fundraisers, pledges, labor, and love— All poured into this sacred mission." "And today… We stand in the light of that vision fulfilled. We celebrate the fruit of that vision. A church stands tall, towers with purpose. A legacy that lives on, carved in stone and spirit. A testimony of what faith, unity, and love can build." "So today, we remember Sylvestor Timbi. And we honor every man who stood beside him. Not just for what they built… But for what they believed. For the grace they showed. For the faith they lived. And for the dream they left behind." "This is not just a building. This is a miracle. This is our story. And this… is his legacy.".
