What is Life Jacket?. What is the purpose of a life jacket? Life jackets are designed to keep you afloat in water. They will automatically turn you into a face-up position, keeping your mouth and nostrils clear of the water to prevent the risk of drowning. This is particularly important if, for any reason, you are unconscious when you fall into the water..

How long can you wear a life jacket? The only way to know it's safe is to check it regularly. Wear and tear can shorten your jacket's lifespan, which manufacturers say is usually  up to 10 years .

Quality life jackets always provide more buoyancy than offered by the buoyancy aids alone.     Keep in mind that most cold water deaths occur well before this point -- only those wearing a life jacket will survive longer than 10 minutes in most cases.

Put on an inflatable lifejacket correctly in less than a minute without assistance  We would also suggest that all participants wear long sleeved tops and long trousers to avoid minor friction burns which can occur when playing on inflatables. According to SOLAS/LSA provisions, the immersion suit should meet the given safety and performance requirements, including no more than two minutes of donning time, impact protection of up to 4.5 m and hypothermia protection for 6 hours. “The ladder approach is a lifesaving technique taught by The Royal Lifesaving Society , and is  used to promote the safety of a rescuer during an aquatic rescue . Immersion suits are generally made of neoprene, a type of rubber that is completely waterproof and can withstand extreme temperatures of water and fire. Jump into the water at least 1 meter from the incident. A ring buoy is a buoyant ring with 40 to 50 feet of lightweight line attached to it. The ring is thrown by a rescuer to someone who needs help in the water. A reaching pole is a pole 10 to 15 feet long that is extended into the water to help someone in trouble. And we have to swim a short distance to board on a rescue craft.
