The purpose of PPE is to protect the worker from the possibility of harm whilst working in a hostile environment. PPE is not a substitute for other, more effective measures and should only be provided as a last resort.  Risk assessment must be used to mitigate risk and PPE used to provide protection from any residual risk. It is acceptable for PPE to be used as an interim measure whilst longer term remedial action is being put in place.

Even small objects if dropped from height can cause serious injury. Because of this, where there is an identified risk, it is compulsory for all employees to wear safety helmets. On installation or service sites wearing such equipment is mandatory. Safety helmets are lightweight and comfortable to wear and can be adjusted to fit different sizes and shape of head.

Scene 6

The purpose of reflective clothing, also known as high-visibility warning clothing, is to signal the presence of the user in places and situations which may cause potential threats to their health and safety. On installation or service sites wearing such equipment is mandatory. TKE logo shall be pasted at both the sides of the Reflective Jacket.

Scene 7

Standard issue clothing will vary depending on the tasks that   you do. It provides general protection against harsh weather, cuts, abrasions, contamination, chemicals and also increase visibility by others. Examples include: Overalls from single use protection to general everyday working overalls. Hi-visibility Jackets. They will normally have the company logo either over the left breast pocket or on the back of the clothing.

Safety footwear is designed to protect the foot and especially the toes from heavy falling objects or moving bodies which may roll over the foot. They also provide protection from standing on hot or sharp objects. Protection is achieved from using a metal or non-conductive plastic toe cap and insole. Footwear design also considers ankle protection. Shoe design can be provided to protect against chemicals and antistatic shoes are available.

Other PPE shall be issued as appropriate to the tasks being carried out and the hazards associated with the site conditions: Our working environment at site is full of different hazards, which might be different in each work area

Eye/Face Protection As mentioned earlier, safety glasses are used for inspection and low risk/impact activities. Goggles enclose the eye completely and can be used for tasks where there is a risk from fume. Face visors offer whole face protection for tasks where high impacts can occur such as grinding operations or for decanting chemicals etc. Welding visors are filtered to protect the worker from welding radiation. The filter scale will depend upon the activity and closeness to the work.

Hearing Protection There are several types of ear protection, and it is important to consider the task and the level of noise to be attenuated. Earmuffs are normally hard plastic cups that surround the ears  and fitted to the head by cushion seals Ear plugs fit into the ear and are not appropriate in all cases, i.e., anyone suffering an ear infection or for tasks where contamination of the plug is possible. They must be comfortable to the user as they may need to be worn for extended periods.

Hand Protection                                           Gloves can be provided to protect against high and low temperatures, chemicals and rough handling work, abrasions and cuts. Special gloves are available for welding, chemicals, foundry work and to provide electrical insulation. It is important that when handling chemicals, gauntlets are tightly secured at the top or worn under the sleeve.

Generally: After arresting a fall the equipment must be withdrawn

Indications for hazardous lanyards: Cuts of 1 mm or more at the edges of webbing, surface abrasion, damage to stitching, a knot, chemical attack, heat or friction damage, UV-degradation, partially deployed energy absorber, contamination (e.g. with dirt, grit, sand  etc ), damage to the sheath and core of a kern mantel rope, internal damage to a cable-laid rope

PPE-Inspection: before each use, report any damage to the Supervisor and request replacement Safety harnesses and lanyards: 	User Inspections			- each time the equipment is used 	6-monthly Inspection*		- by a Competent Person 	3 years from date of manufacture	- Withdraw from use or return 	 	(And annually thereafter) 		  to original manufacturer for 						                              Inspection and re-certification Severe working environment,  e.g. in a particularly dirty environment: Competent Person can increase the inspection frequency to  3-monthly intervals All items of fall arrest equipment must be marked with a  unique identifier  and must not be used without valid certification.

Employees must be trained and instructed in how to use PPE properly to be aware of : Why it is needed, when it is to be used, repaired or replaced and its limitations. Follow attentively the site induction training regarding site-specific PPE, be aware of penalties for failure to use PPE.

Fall arrest equipment: at least 6-monthly inspection by a competent person, 3-monthly inspection in severe working environment.  Fall arrest equipment has to be withdrawn after arresting a fall. Damaged lanyards must not be used.
