[Audio] This presentation is about Ground Proximity and Warning System in the Airbus A320 GPWS is to warn pilots when flight parameters exceed the safe flight envelope. Its main purpose is to prevent controlled flight into terrain accidents. Warning and alerts are generated as a result of changes in radar altimeter heights of rate of those changes. GPWS control panel in A320 located on the left side of the overhead panel GPWS pushbuttons functions: TERR pushbutton: it inhabits the Terrain Awareness Display and Terrain Clearance Floor modes. It does not affect the basic GPWS modes 1 to 5. System push button: it affects all GPWS basic modes 1 to 5. Amber light comes on if any modes 1 to 5 malfunction Glide slope mode pushbutton: it inhabits Mode 5 which is too far below glideslope Flap mode pushbutton: inhabits mode 4 which is too low flaps Landing flap 3 : to avoid nuisance warning during aircraft landing in flap 3.
