What you have to keep in mind.. 1. This is the 1st,2nd time for a 3-5 years old kid to perform singing in front of the crowd! 2. Encouragement is VERY important! E.g , Wow, you have done a great job!! (Hand clapping and thumbs up! With ) 3. Ask kids perform with gesture !!! (makes them easier to memorize the song.) 4. Hand made Props is a good way for engaging in the singing show..

How to engage student in the song?. Let them know what they are going to do in the following weeks? Next week, we are going to sing ( lalala ) for daddy and mommy, who wants to sing for your daddy and mommy? Invite a volunteer to the front and sing a easy song Make other kids clap their hands and a sticker (no candy)after the singing as a reward..
1. Pick the song.. After the demonstration, play three to five songs and ask children to pick their own songs. Mark down the children’s selection of the songs and make sure both Chinese teacher and you have the note. (You can also make a poster so kids can see what their songs are such as Penny- monkey sticker- 5 little monkey.) Play the game of ”Whose song is this”.
2. Game – Whose song is coming?. Ask kids to sit in a circle. When you say the name of the song, the children who pick the song have to stand up ASAP. (Kids act excited in this game!) This activity is to let children be more familiar to their song’s name. After they choose their song, please do not change the song, otherwise teachers, parents and kids will be confused..
3. Start practice by “Group singing.”. Group kids with same song to sing for three days. Observe kids carefully and find the problem why they can’t sing. Help them to practice more. After three days, move to personal practice. The reason for group singing is to enhance the security of performing. Because children sometimes get shy to sing on their own ..
3. Individual practice. After the group singing. Invite a volunteer kids to Sing individually! (Make a demonstration and reward the volunteering kids after singing.) Practice singing individually in the performing order. (usually starts with their number.) Cookie or sticker REWARD is important too .(BUT, give stickers after all performance otherwise children will get distracted. Cookie can put in their mouth after the performance.).
4. Practice at home.. Ask: “ Who practice singing at home? What did daddy and mommy say?” Give them a cookie/stickers as a reward if they practice at home. If possible, ask Chinese teachers to record video for kid. Therefore, parents can know through video and picture if they are not willing to sing at home..
5. Making Props. Spend one class for preparing their performing props. Props can be animal hat, a pop stick animals. Don’t make it too complicated!! Props help children to sing confidently!.

1. Tell them about the “TED TALK” show.. Tell kids about the story telling activity We are going to invite daddy and mommy to our classroom for stories. Who want to read story for daddy and mommy? Daddy and mommy loves story too but they don ’ t have time to listen to story like your do because they have to work So its your time to tell story for them. 2. Who wants to ready story to daddy and mommy?.
2. Story Selection. Read every story to kids. Leave each book on the ground and ask kids to line up if they like the story. Mark the story they would love to read( Reminder: you knew kids' reading level so select a too difficult book for kids which is not at that level.).
3. Game – whose story is this?. Read out loud the title of each story book or show the story book. When you raise the book and call the name of the book. Ask kids to stand up if they choose that story ASAP . Play several times for help children to memorize their own story..
4. Group reading. Let’s start with reading story with gesture. When you read one sentence , children have to repeat the sentence and the gesture together . After you have done with gesture and the reading. Assign children to practice in groups (start with grouping children with a leader who guide other children to read and practice their gesture) Teacher will go to each group and listen their story and see their gesture practice..
5. Individual practice. Ask children to sit in order and call their name when it is their turn. First, Introduction Hello everybody, my name is Angel. 6. During the practice.. Children will have to tell the story with gesture . This help them to memorize the content of the story. Teachers will be sitting in front of the performing kid and doing the same gestures without telling the story content to remind the story content..
7. Reward is Important!!!. For kids who are willing to perform bravely , give them stickers or cookies (no candy) as a reward. Encourage kids to speak louder and clear as they could. If they kids have lower volume, remember to applied microphone for kids. Give stickers after all performance otherwise children will get distracted..
