Smoke detector with Oxygen Sensor. Business Challenge When a fire occurs in any building, HVAC units get shut down, and hence there is a change in oxygen level due to improper ventilation. However, there is no oxygen level detection system available for the occupancies. If oxygen levels fall below the safe threshold, which is 19.5 percent, health hazards may occur. With only a few breaths of oxygen-deficient air, people could fall unconscious and suffocate. Therefore, safety detection systems are required..

Proposed Solution The proposed solution is a combination of a smoke detector & oxygen level sensor   with inbuilt evacuation notification. When a fire  occurs in any building; HVAC units get shut down and people get stuck in improper ventilation areas.  The proposed solution will help occupant to evacuate by looking at the Oxygen level notifications provided at each smoke detectors. .

At present, Fire alarm detection system only alert the people when fire is occurred. The oxygen level also important for human safety. Customer needs to provide separate oxygen monitoring inside room or premises. Following are the reasons of Oxygen deficiency   When atmospheric air cannot enter inside Premises. HVAC unit gets shut off due to fire detection in main floor or in other floor of building. Oxygen-deficient atmospheres may be created when oxygen is displaced by inert gases, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen, argon, or the ship's inert gas system or firefighting system. Oxygen can also be consumed by rusting metal, ripening fruits, drying paint, or coatings, combustion, or bacterial activities. Use “Combination of Smoke and oxygen level detector. This Combination will be useful for Normal and abnormal Fire condition.   Evacuation of people get easy.

Through our idea, we are proposing “Smoke Detector, which can detect oxygen deficiency and Smokes”. Proposed solution will have following features, In our existing smoke detector model, we can employ or add an electrochemical cell.  Electrochemical cell measures the oxygen concentration in an ambient air, Under the catalysis of the electrodes, a redox reaction occurs on the working electrode and the counter electrode, thereby generating a current. Depending on the oxygen concentration from air the output value (Current/voltage) for that cell will get changed. We are supposed to provide the solid LED indicator with red and green indication to notify the people to get evacuated from the premises during emergency by taking shortest path as per the oxygen level. In normal condition, if oxygen deficiency occurs, the detectors will still notify the occupants to evacuate from that premises.

Proposed Outcomes : Introducing Multi-Color LED ring to Smoke Detector Base. LED Ring Base will be easily visible because of height of installation & their intensity. Different Colors of LED will convey different message. Because of its intensity, it can easily identify even corridor with full of smoke. Path will update is blinking sequence automatically as per Fire Location in the premises and guide people to evacuate through desired escape route. For that we can use Addressable Programing feature of Fire Alarm System.

Color Codes : Green LED will use for clear path, all smoke base will blink sequentially till desired escape route.  Red LED will indicate Unsafe path. In corridor as per safest rout the LED will blink.
