[Audio] NHS LSF Eligibility: Main points You must be eligible for tuition fee and maintenance loan from the Student Loans Company Residency You must meet the eligibility criteria defined by one of the following (depending on where you normally live in the UK) Student Finance England (SFE) • Student Finance Wales (SFW) • The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) or • Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI) Eligibility will be assessed on a case-by-case basis for the following Students who choose not to claim from the student loans company Students studying paramedicine as a second degree.

[Audio] Rates of Reimbursement 0.42p per mile driving 0.30p per mile by bicycle Public transport costs Mileage rates between term time address and placement & term time address and University Commercial accommodation: Up to £82.50 per night (Including Hotels, Airbnb). Any cost over this amount the student will have to cover themselves Non-commercial accommodation: £37.50 per night staying with friends or relatives YOU CANNOT CLAIM FOR STAYING IN THE PARENTAL HOME Accommodation rates Costs are reimbursed once the stay in accommodation is complete.
[Audio] Reasons Why Claims Are Rejected Out of date: You have 6-months from your last day of placement to submit your claim Claims cannot be processed for future dates Missing details on accommodation receipts i.e. dates/postcode location/ student name/proof of payment All necessary evidence is not included i.e. parking receipts/ accommodation invoice/public transport tickets/bank statement Documents are not signed and dated i.e. timesheets/TDAE form If you are claiming for a higher level of reimbursement than the NHSBSA rates.
[Audio] Examples of Reimbursement To be reimbursed: It must cost you more to attend your placement than it does to attend your regular place of study. If you are studying on a blended learning/online course and do not have daily travel costs nothing is deducted when you claim a placement reimbursement..
[Audio] Travel & Dual Accommodation Form Enter your 7-digit SSRN number. This is very important claims will not be processed without this information. Fill out the rest of your details. Make sure your term time address is correct in MyUWE Please note: we do not accept BRN forms.

This must be filled in Enter your normal daily return travel costs between home and UWE Enter any additional travel costs such as parking or tolls. This will be deducted from your placement travel cost claim..

This needs to match the dates of the invoice provided by your temporary accommodation provider. Enter the total cost (to you) for your accommodation..
[Audio] Rate Car: 42p per mile Bicycle: 30p per mile Formula & Mileage Rate Milage calculation to placement from home travelling by car Amount of return journeys to placement x miles covered x milage rate 9 return journeys x travelling 60 miles each day x by car 9 x 60 x 0.42 = £226.80 Amount of return journeys to UWE (this must be the same as placement journeys) x miles covered x milage rate 9 return journeys x travelling 12 miles each day x by car 9 x 12 x 0.42 = £45.36 Mileage calculation to UWE from home travelling by car Remember: To work out the cost of cycling: use 0.30 as your milage rate.
[Audio] Public Transport Rate Rate Actual costs Amount of return journeys to placement x cost of train/bus 9 return journeys x daily train fare (£35) 9 x 35 = £315.00 Travel calculation to placement from home travelling by public transport Amount of return journeys to UWE x cost of train/bus 9 return journeys x daily bus fare (£4) 9 x 4 = £36 (Add any parking or additional costs) Travel calculation to UWE from home travelling by public transport Remember : You deduct your normal term time travel costs to UWE from your placement costs..
[Audio] Taxi/Uber Expenses You can only claim for taxi travel for one-off occasion, or as a last resort Any use of taxi’s must be authorised by the programme leader before the occasion wherever possible. If not achievable, this must be finalised as soon as possible Please note, all reimbursements are at the discretion of the NHS and claims may be rejected if they deem taxi travel not appropriate You must include taxi/Uber dates, payments and receipts with your claim.
