Literature Review. [1] I. Eminolu and .H. Alts, “A method to form fuzzy logic control rules for a PMDC motor drive system,” Electric Power Systems Research, vol. 39, no. 2, pp. 81–87, Nov. 1996, doi : 10.1016/S0378-7796(96)01089-9. This journal article discusses about the approach and method used to generate and formulate fuzzy rules decision table used while designing a fuzzy logic-based controller. The proposed method is based on the “comparison of possible transient responses of the system output and the desired set point”. The concept of fuzzy logic controller and how its if-then rules can be defined for complex systems without their mathematical models are discussed in this paper. [2] G. R. Murugananth and S. Vijayan , “Development of fuzzy controlled chopper drive for permanent magnet DC motor,” Journal of Vibration and Control, vol. 21, no. 3, pp. 555–562, Feb. 2015, doi : 10.1177/1077546313490184. This journal article discusses about the fuzzy logic-based controller used in a chopper drive, to control the speed of PMDC motor used in “orthopedic surgical simulators”. The authors have effectively explained the mathematical model, background study, generation of the fuzzy rules and its variables and have analyzed the performance of FLC based control system to be better than the conventional in terms of transient and steady state response..

Simulation Progress and Results. We have implemented the PMDC motor using PI and PID controller successfully and got the desired result. While implementing fuzzy controller, we faced challenges in getting the desired response. Our goal now, is to implement the fuzzy logic controller by properly defining its rule and output variable relation so that its error metrics and performance metrics becomes better than the other two controllers..
