Consultancy Services To External Projects

[Audio] Today's story telling will share the Project Management Consultancy Services provided to MRSM Bintulu and Ranau Projects..

[Audio] This CSR Project is funded by PETRONAS in collaboration with MARA, Yayasan Sarawak, State Education Sarawak and Sabah. Both MRSM Bintulu and Ranau contracts were awarded in 2018 and managed by KLCC Projeks. Following series of EOT requests from both Contractors, PETRONAS Group HRM through Human Capital Investment in the 4th quarter of 2022 had requested PD&T/GPD to assist in assessing the project health, arrest further delay and recommend mitigation plan. Subsequently, Project Do-Ability including site assessment was carried-out on 22 Nov 2022 for MRSM Bintulu and on 12 Dec 2022 for MRSM Ranau..

[Audio] For MRSM Bintulu, the Doability performed in November 2022 indicated that the target CPC of 31 March 2023 was still doable. It was identified that the potential schedule threats at that time were mainly works related to the covered walkway and internal architectural finishes of the Quarters Buildings, as well as all outstanding punch-list related to BOMBA inspection, which require close monitoring..

[Audio] As for MRSM Ranau, the Doability performed in December 2022 indicated that the target CPC of February 2023 was not doable as evidence of no significant increase in manpower as required. Therefore, it was forecasted that CPC in June 2023 and driven by Asrama Perempuan Architectural works completion..

[Audio] Throughout the Execution, there were challenges encountered which include lack of skilled workers, foreign workers entry restriction, logistics difficulties, unavailability of proper progress monitoring systems and lack of Contractor's management support. Furthermore, the existing slope has been disturbed by adjacent landowner which require immediate resolution. In ensuring that the remaining works were executed effectively few recommendations has been put forward. These include to split the construction by zone, set-up commodity curves by the critical trades and identify clear focus areas..

[Audio] As a result of the interventions, MRSM Bintulu buildings and external works are now completed, all permanent utilities connected, BOMBA inspection done, Occupational Certificate is currently being processed. While punch-list closing continues and slope rectification pending land acquisition process. However, these should not hamper the OC process and handover to MARA..

[Audio] As for MRSM Ranau, all buildings and external works are now completed, permanent utilities connected and BOMBA inspection is planned for July 2023. However, quality of Architectural finishes has posed some challenges for timely closure and the remaining slope rectification works..
