Bayambangueños can soon enjoy leisurely walks for relaxation and pleasure with the upcoming groundbreaking for the new Bayambang Promenade near the Saint Vincent Ferrer Prayer Park.

Bayambangueños will soon witness the groundbreaking ceremony to officially begin the construction of the new Amusement Park which is set to invite more tourists and bring socio-economic progress to the town.

The Museum of Bayambang officially opened to the public on February 15, 2023. Since then, it has hosted thousands of Bayambangueños and tourists eager to learn more about the culture and history of the municipality.

The museum has five galleries: Culture and the Arts, History, Agriculture, Education, and Persons of Innovation. It aims to educate the people about the town and to in- culcate patriotism by informing them of who we are and where we come from.

Residents of the municipality need not travel to other provinces to receive quality healthcare as this hos- pital would be accessible to Bayambang residents for medical, surgical, dental, and even psychological needs.

Fishing is one of the sources of livelihood for Bayambangueños, thus, LGU- Bayambang prioritizes the dredging of inland fisheries around the municipality. Two kilometers have been dredged in Brgy. Tanolong and Balaybuaya, while 1,000sqm  was dredged at the Langiran Lake to ensure right water depth for tilapia production.

LGU-Bayambang received 150,000 tilapia fingerlings from the BFAR for the Inland Fishery Development Project in Brgy. Tanolong, Macayocayo, and Maigpa.

The country’s agricultural sector has long been neglected, with the presumption that “there’s no money in farming,” which is untrue, for farming can be financially rewarding. This is the same case of Bayambang Town in Pangasinan - an agricultural town where most of its population is dependent on agriculture for subsistence and economic activities, where the most pressing problem of the town is poverty among farmers.
 On 28 August 2018, National Heroes Day, Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao took upon himself to launch “Rebolusyon Laban Sa Kahirapan” over the whole town to deal with this tremendous challenge, which culminated in the crafting of “Bayambang Poverty Reduction Plan 2018 – 2028, where one of the five sectoral goals of this plan focuses on Agricultural Modernization – a program dedicated in helping the farmers to have a better life instead of being endlessly trapped in a cycle of poverty.

Squash, okra, and onion chips will soon be distributed in the market by One Food Corporation with the help of the technology of the Pangasinan State University- Department of Science and Technology Food Innovation Center (PSU-DOST FIC).   In a forum Tuesday, Mayor Cezar Quiambao said a factory of nutritious snacks and other products made from the town’s vegetables will rise in a 2,000-square-meter agricultural center of the town at Barangay Amancosiling Sur.   “We convinced the corporation to adopt the products of PSU-DOST FIC. From the many products, they will start with squash, onion and okra chips and tomato paste since these are abundant in our town. They will start next month to mass produce but they will use the facilities of PSU-DOST FIC,” he said.   The mayor disclosed that an intensive backyard gardening program was started in the town to be able to supply the needed vegetable raw materials of the company.

The improved processing of ginisang burong dalag [sauteed fermented mud fish] now has 24-26% less salt content and it is more delicious, nutritious, and has a pleasant odor than what was normally manufactured. It also has passed the 365 days shelf-life test.   This innovative product was made possible through the collaborative “Burolicious [fermented and delicious] project: its processing, packaging, commercialization and project implementation” of Pangasinan State University-Bayambang Campus and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Region 1 Food Innovation Center.   Buro is a native product of Bayambang, Pangasinan which has been part of Bayambang’s unique culture due to the abundance of fresh water fishes from the lake. It’s been believed that this unique food is rooted in religion from way back in the era of Spaniards who colonized the Philippines for about 400 years. Old folks do practice fasting by eating fish and vegetables or no meat at all during the Semana Santa or Holy Week, thus the buro became a staple on the table.

Bayambang, Pangasinan is celebrating its 405th year with grand events happening from April 1 until April 8. Bayambang, located at the southern tip of Pangasinan, was the 5th capital of the Philippines during the 1stPhilippine Republic under the revolutionary government of General Emilio Aguinaldo. The town’s vast territory used to include Bautista town, where the Philippine National Anthem was written by Jose Palma, and Camiling town (now a part of Tarlac), the home of Jose Rizal’s inspiration for Maria Clara, Leonor Rivera, and the birthplace of former UN General Assembly President Carlos P. Romulo.
 The town fiesta coincides with the marking of the 400th year foundation of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish (the physical church was built in 1869), and worldwide, the commemoration of the 600th year of the saint’s death. The century-old place of worship enshrines St. Vincent Ferrer, the patron saint of Bayambang, whose feast day is on April 5.

The name Bayambang is believed to have been derived from the plant colibangbang, which grew abundantly in the area. The original settlers were located in what are now barangays Hermosa and Inirangan. When Bayambang became a Spanish pueblo in 1614, the town transformed into a major transit point for goods in the province. The construction of the Manila-Dagupan Railroad brought further progress to the area. With its status as a major trading hub in the north, the revolutionary government declared Bayambang as the 5th capital of the First Philippine Republic in 1899. The newspaper La Independencia, staffed by its editor Antonio Luna and other notable personalities such as Rosa Sevilla, Cecilio Apostol, and Jose Palma, used the Bayambang railroad station as a publishing house during the war for independence. Bayambang is part of the third congressional district located in southern Pangasinan, serving as a gateway to the Province of Tarlac through Camiling. It has a land area of 18,305 hectares and a population of 129,011 according to the 2020 census. Bayambang is known for its towering St. Vincent sculpture, which stands at 50 meters and is the tallest bamboo sculpture in the world. The sculpture represents the town’s patron saint, St. Vincent Ferrer. A long time ago, there was a rich couple by the name of Don Buenaventura de Vera and Doña Juana Monderin. The couple was well-regarded because they were supportive of the needs of the barangay for its development. During their time, they were recognized to be their leaders and thus were addressed as Don and Doña.  One day, Don Buenaventura was going around his agricultural land to inspect his crops. Unknown to him, village folks took notice of him making his rounds in his vast landholding, so they would warmly tell him, “Don Buenaventura, malimpec no???? lamet so pakayaryarian mo!” Since that time, the locals referred to their village as “Malimpec” and in time the name was recognized by the villagers.  They also called the place Malimpec because it is surrounded by water and because of its circular shape.

Father Manuel Mora built a wooden church, with three naves, and an old convent at the town of Bayambang in 1804. It was damaged by an earthquake in 1863. In 1869, a second church and convent was built from stone and mortar with galvanized iron roofing.[3] Father Manuel Sucias rehabilitated the church with a cruciform plan in 1804.[4] Father Manuel Sucias (1813-1824); Father Juan Alvarez del Manzano (1833-1835); Father Joaquin Flores; Father Benito Foncuberta (1836-1840); and Father Jose Ibañez (1836-1840) directed and supervised the gradual construction of the church.[3] In 1856, the church was burned. The reconstruction of the church was administered by Father Benito Foncuberto who also built two sacristies and repair the tile roofing which was destroyed by the earthquakes. The galvanized iron roofing measures 16.5 metres (54 ft) wide and 85.7 metres (281 ft) long. Father Ciriaco Billote contributed a new church belfry for the reconstructed church.[4]

In 1869, a second church and convent was built from stone and mortar with galvanized iron roofing.[3] Father Manuel Sucias rehabilitated the church with a cruciform plan in 1804.[4] Father Manuel Sucias (1813-1824); Father Juan Alvarez del Manzano (1833-1835); Father Joaquin Flores; Father Benito Foncuberta (1836-1840); and Father Jose Ibañez (1836-1840) directed and supervised the gradual construction of the church.[3] In 1856, the church was burned. The reconstruction of the church was administered by Father Benito Foncuberto who also built two sacristies and repair the tile roofing which was destroyed by the earthquakes. The galvanized iron roofing measures 16.5 metres (54 ft) wide and 85.7 metres (281 ft) long. Father Ciriaco Billote contributed a new church belfry for the reconstructed church.[4]
