The current study attempts to synthesize both studies related to conventional and Islamic finance and banking. Despite the capital market is regarded as a significant factor for sustainable economic growth, the impressive development of the Islamic banking and finance market over the years still raise doubts about the efficacy of capital market in this stimulating economic growth. The contribution of the Islamic banking and finance in economic growth remains unclear.
