[Audio] Objectives Educate employees on OERNL's security policies and procedures, with an emphasis on Access Control. Foster a collaborative relationship between staff and the security department while informing personnel of the best practices. Increase awareness of Access Control protocols.
[Audio] Access Control is define as follows: Access Control Involves the policies and technologies used to restrict access to authorized users while preventing unauthorized access to facilities, data, or information systems. Access control systems can include a variety of methods, such as password protection, biometric scans, key cards, and security personnel, to ensure that only individuals with the necessary permissions can enter restricted areas or access sensitive information.
[Audio] Importance of Access Control. The assets of the company have to be safeguarded against being tampered with by unauthorized persons. Also people working or who visit the premises has to be safe guarded against risks No organization can stand alone without people. Organization must have people coming into to survive. These persons or groups are called organization, public and they fall into the following categories: Customers, Staff of Organization Maintenance personnel, Contractors Personal Visitors All these categories of people listed above have legitimate reasons to enter the client's premises. Access control ensures that only persons and vehicles with legitimate business in the premises are allowed to enter in an orderly manner..
[Audio] Role of Security Operative. The role of the security Officer is to ensure that the company's access control rues are strictly enforced. Rules for Access Control Identification and Authorization: Escorting/Guiding Visitors: Collection. This is the reverse of escorting. Escorting the visitors back to the security post Vehicles: The following categories of vehicles may enter the premises staff, official vehicles, contractors vehicles and customers vehicles.
[Audio] How to Control Vehicles To avoid accident, the speed of the vehicles should be controlled All vehicles should be inspected especially when entering or leaving the premises they should be stopped for inspection Vehicles should only be allowed in parking lot. Parking outside the premises is more effective because it eliminates the risk of vehicles being used to conceal stolen property. But where parking areas are provided inside the premises like the residential area, separate parking areas are provided for employees. 4. Security operative's /Access Control Duties are: Checking and verifying the identity of persons entering the premises Searching(If authorized by management rule) Documentation of entrants into and those exiting the premises.
[Audio] Key Control(No staff should leave the client's premises with official keys) Dealing with lost but found items Keep the door close always Directing visitors to the point of visit 5. Residential Visitors- IPP Residential visitors that arrive at KGP residential base shall report to the main gate reception, stating occupant of the resident they want to visit and produce a valid and official Identification document. Resident are to escort their visitor to and from the residential area and must host them for the duration of the visit (The host is accountable for their guest throughout the duration of the visit and ensures ALL company procedures are adhere to) Once a residential visit is concluded, the resident shall escort their visitor to the main access control point at the Main Gate where the visitors will hand all ID badges back by the security supervisor at access control point..
[Audio] Categories Of ID Badges And Authorization All identification, confiscated items and paperwork will be handed over to the visitor before exiting the base. (No personal identification document confiscated items or paperwork is to be handed over until receipt of OERNL ID Badge Visitors with vehicles will drive the vehicle out of the premise and park outside or make use of the club house to park his or her vehicle All vehicle are subject to search when leaving the base 6. Visitors departing-Independent Power Plant (IPP) Once concluded, the visitor will proceed to the Main Gate turnstile where security will conduct a brief exit search. Visitor will then hand all ID cards back to the security post.
[Audio] . ID BADGES Types of ID Badges The following types of ID Badges are in use: Matriculated Staff. This category is for matriculated staff (employees) only. Contract Staff. This includes the following staff: Direct-hire (1st Party) contract staff Indirect hire contract staff (3rd party) and personal services contractors who are assigned to permanent work duties inside Company Premises (Note: Contractors whose primary place of work is not inside Company Premises and are deemed to be "Visitors"). Partner companies. Stewards.
[Audio] Visitor Briefing All visitor must be briefed by the security staff regarding the following: Visitor procedures while on the plant Badge integrity and accountability for one's pass Reporting if lost, stolen or damaged badges to security immediately Not using the pass of another person and not allowing the use of one's pass by others Wearing the badge prominently displayed on the front of the outer garment between the neck and waist when on OERNL premises Not attempting to enter un-authorized areas Presenting packages or containers for inspection.
[Audio] Gate Pass All items exiting the plant and the residential area must be accompanied by a permit or gate pass. This document should be duly signed by the Head of Department (HOD) of the assigned department and must include the gas plant manager's stamp and signature along with the date. Staff bringing in personal belongings must log these items at the security post to facilitate their removal later. The guard on duty is responsible for documenting this information in the logbook.
