[Audio] SASCE is dedicated to promoting cooperative and work integrated education. Its mission is to give students real-world work experiences, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to enter the modern job market. SASCE strives to become a leader in the field of cooperative and work integrated education, offering assistance to both students and employers throughout Southern Africa..
[Audio] Universities and employers are both essential in promoting cooperative and work integrated education in Africa. Enhancing the employability of WIL students is a vital goal to achieve and universities can take part in this by allowing access to student placement, providing insight on WIL strategies and how to put them into practice, and advocating WIL education in Africa. This is beneficial for all those involved as it gives students hands-on experience and furnishes employers with skilled and driven workers..
[Audio] My success story began when I was enrolled in the WIL-Power program to get in-service training as part of my diploma. Thanks to the program, I was able to obtain an internship at MUT-TSC, where I gained a great deal of knowledge in my field. I was also equipped with a variety of skills that enabled me to start my own business. Aside from that, the program provided me with financial, rent and other assistance, making it easier for me to get essential support while I prepared for my career..
[Audio] As part of the WIL Power! SASCE programme, I have had the chance to do something aside from my school work and put what I have studied to the test. Through this I have been able to take the knowledge I have gathered and put it into practice in my day-to-day life in order to help me develop as an individual. The programme also enabled me to relocate to another province to learn how to take care of myself and build my career. On top of that, this gave me the opportunity to make money and be able to support myself financially. I am thankful for the experience and the lessons I have acquired from the programme as I go forward in my professional life..
[Audio] An unemployed young person living in Hammarsdale, I encountered several obstacles while trying to finish my National Diploma. Fortunately, WIL Power SASCE program offered the financial aid I required to accomplish my studies and obtain the knowledge for a better future. During the TSC trainings, I acquired business skills for detergents, cosmetics and surfactants. My ambition is to advance my studies and create a business that can help me support myself financially. Similarly, I also have the goal of using my expertise to benefit the local rural economy and assist others in a comparable circumstance..
[Audio] My name is Samkelisiwe Mavimbela and I am currently doing my in-service training. I was looking for an in-service training company to do my in-service training at and I am grateful to have found the WIL Power SASCE program. It has helped me gain experience in fields such as making detergents, cosmetics, water treatment, and quality control. Going forward we will look at an example of how John and Sarah decided to separate due to their unhappiness..
[Audio] I was able to pursue my dream of obtaining a degree in Chemical Engineering thanks to this program. WIL Power helped me become a confident, independent and educated individual, while also allowing me to expand my knowledge in both academic and practical areas. Furthermore, I have acquired an understanding of water security and the impacts it has on the environment and economy. I have also learned how to identify and remove toxic metals from acid mine drainage, thereby benefiting both the environment and the affected communities. WIL Power gave me the chance to continue my studies, which has enabled me to realize my dream of becoming a Chemical Engineer..
[Audio] My name is Wandile Brian Masuku and I am from the small village of Bilanyoni in Paulpietersburg. Before joining the DSI/CSIR ETP work integrated education programme, I was running a small business from home in pursuit of additional income. During my time in the programme, I was able to gain valuable work-related communication skills, as well as learn how to analyse and test samples, and formulate cosmetics and detergents. This income enabled me to pay for rent, food, and transportation. I am very appreciative of the funder I received it from. My future goal is to find a job and start my own business in manufacturing and selling cosmetics and detergents..
[Audio] I was fortunate enough to receive aid from the Department of Science and Innovation and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, allowing me to benefit from tremendous new experiences. I was introduced to analytical chemistry which was incredibly helpful in boosting my understanding of my S4 studies at Durban University of Technology. This program provided me with the opportunity to hone my skills in communication, teamwork, and punctuality. It granted me a way to gain further knowledge and a source of income. I was exposed to various tasks such as cosmetics, detergents, and administrative work, which has now opened up a new career avenue for me to pursue. My aim is to open a business and secure a permanent job in this field..
[Audio] I recently had the opportunity to join the WIL programme at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. This programme was a great way for me to gain professional development experience in the field of electronics. My mentor gave me the opportunity to ask any questions or queries I may have had which taught me so much. I also learnt invaluable skills that I can use in the future like self-learning and networking skills. I truly believe that this experience has been one of the most beneficial and enriching aspects of my educational journey..
