[Audio] Good day, everyone! Welcome to Grade 10 IGCSE Mathematics for the 2026–2027 school year. I am Ms. Cynthia Aba, and I am excited to journey with you this year as we explore mathematics in a deeper and more meaningful way. Today's orientation is designed to help you understand what to expect in our class—our course goals, classroom expectations, assessment system, learning routines, and how we can work together to make this a successful year. IGCSE Mathematics is more than learning formulas and solving equations. It is about developing logical thinking, problem-solving skills, precision, and perseverance—skills that will benefit you not only in future studies but also in everyday life. As a Christian school, we also recognize that mathematics reflects God's character. The order, consistency, and beauty found in mathematics remind us that God is a God of order, wisdom, and truth (1 Corinthians 14:33). As we learn mathematics, we seek excellence not merely for grades, but to faithfully develop the minds and abilities that God has entrusted to us. My prayer is that this classroom becomes a place where you feel challenged to grow, encouraged to ask questions, willing to make mistakes, and committed to giving your best effort each day. By the end of today's orientation, you should have a clear understanding of how our class will operate and what will help you succeed throughout the school year..

[Audio] Before we begin discussing our class, I'd like us to reflect on this verse from Matthew 5:16. As students of Life Academy International, we are called not only to pursue academic excellence but also to live in a way that reflects Christ. Every assignment we complete, every problem we solve, every interaction we have, and every challenge we overcome is an opportunity to let our light shine. In Mathematics, this means demonstrating integrity by doing our own work, perseverance when problems become difficult, humility in learning from our mistakes, and kindness in helping others grow. Remember that success is not measured solely by high grades. True success is honoring God by faithfully using the gifts and abilities He has given us. My hope is that throughout this school year, each of us will strive not only to become better mathematicians but also better followers of Christ, allowing our actions and character to glorify God..

[Audio] Before we look at what we'll be learning this year, let's reflect on this verse from Luke 2:52. Jesus grew in wisdom, character, and in His relationship with both God and people. In the same way, our goal in this class is not only to grow in mathematical knowledge but also in discipline, integrity, perseverance, and Christlike character. As we study IGCSE Mathematics, may we remember that every lesson is an opportunity to develop the minds God has given us and to use them wisely for His glory. With that in mind, let's take a look at what our learning journey will look like this school year..

[Audio] Now, let me introduce the teachers who will be part of your IGCSE Mathematics journey this school year. My name is Ms. Cynthia, and I will be your IGCSE Mathematics teacher. Since this is our first year together, I look forward to getting to know each of you as we learn, solve problems, and grow throughout the year. I also want to let you know that later this school year, I will be taking maternity leave for approximately three and a half months as I welcome a new addition to my family. During that time, Mr. Ross will serve as your substitute teacher. Rest assured that we share the same commitment—to provide you with a consistent, well-supported learning experience so you can continue growing in your mathematical skills and faithfully use the abilities God has given you.
