The couple are seated at traditional water pouring tables, known as ‘ Dtang Rot Naam’ (Ramm, 2021) The bride is seated to the left side of the groom An elder family member places the Mong Kols on each of their heads (Ramm, 2021) A white thread is looped between each headdress to join the couple An elder mixes white clay with the blessed water and marks the couple with three dots in a triangle on their forehead (Advisor, 2020) The couple positions both hands (palms together) over the water pouring table (Ramm, 2021) Each elder guest present takes turns pouring the blessed water over the bride and grooms hand to bless them ( Niveth , 2020).

The practice is leaning towards extinction with increasing Westernization through younger generations Increase in legal wedding ceremonies as opposed to traditional The problem is the traditional practice of Rod Nam Sang is not recognized as a legal marriage in the eyes of the law (Ramm, 2021) This is one of the main reasons this tradition is not being practiced as much Legal wedding certificates and registrations are now needed in order for marriage to exist legally (Ramm, 2021).
