Data Points Digital background. Statement of Interdisciplinarity and Disciplines Explored My research question requires interdisciplinarity due to its complexity that needs to be approached from different perspectives to better understand this societal issue. Klein and Newell (1997) in their book “An introduction to interdisciplinary research theory and Practice ” define interdisciplinarity as “a process of answering a question, solving a problem, or addressing a topic that is too broad or complex to be dealt with adequately by a single discipline or profession”. Sociology and women studies are two disciplines that will be integrated to help me explore the cultural norms and/or the societal factors that lead women to express themselves and force the world to revise the way women are seen in our societies..

Research Questions : The question that I will explore in my research project is: What is the role of black women in enriching the black heritage of St. Augustine?.

Scene 7 (3m 7s)

Data Collection : In order to find answers to my research questions, I will explore the resources that UCF library abounds. I will also collect my data from the virtual tours of important sites of St. Augustine that are planned during the spring break..

Scene 8 (3m 55s)

Positionality Studying the cultural heritage of communities is one of my passions. Before this class, I had the opportunity to learn about the African American heritage through literature and movies. I am quite sure that this class with all resources that I have access to, I can learn in depth about St. Augustine women who share many aspects and life experiences like my own community. Although I am an outsider of St. Augustine community, our shared history of oppression and rich heritage will empower me to make my research a tool to face the unfair systems and reconsider the value of women in marginalized communities like St. Augustine . THANK YOU..
