Observational research is a research technique where you observe participants and phenomena in their most natural settings.

Experimental research, also called experimentation, is research conducted using a scientific approach using two or more variables.

simulation, in industry, science, and education, a research or teaching technique that reproduces actual events and processes under test conditions.

DERIVED data involves using existing data points, often from different data sources, to create new data through some sort of transformation, such as an arithmetic formula or aggregation.

In the field of science different researchers may assign different meanings for the team research approach. In some publications you may see that research approach may imply methods of data collection and data analysis in general and differences between qualitative and quantitative methods in particular..

Importance of research approach in a research

However, in our view research approach is best seen as a general plan and procedure for conducting the study. Accordingly, approach for the research can be divided into three categories:

Deductive approach- "Developing a hypothesis (or hypotheses) based on existing theory, and then constructing a research method to test the hypothesis" is what a deductive approach is all about.

Inductive approach- entails starting with a set of actual observations, searching for patterns, and then speculating about those patterns.

The research design is the overarching method you adopt to combine the many components of the study in a logical and cohesive manner, guaranteeing that you will effectively address the research topic; it is the blueprint for data collecting, measurement, and analysis..

Descriptive, Correlational, Causal-Comparative/Quasi-Experimental, and Experimental Research. Attempts to establish cause- effect relationships among the variables. these types of design are very similar to true experiments, but with some key differences.

Why should I believe what he or she has to say on the topic?
Is the author seen as an expert on the topic? How do you know? Current: How current is the information in the source?
When was the source published?
Is the information out-of-date? Accuracy: Is the content accurate?
Is the information presented objectively? Do they share the pros and cons?.

Correlational research - is a non-experimental research strategy that uses statistical analysis to investigate the relationship between two variables. extraneous factors have no influence on the variables under investigation in correlational research.

Causal-comparative/quasi-experimental research  -looks for cause-and-effect correlations between variables. True experiments are fairly similar to these sorts of designs, but there are a few crucial distinctions.

Experimental research- is a study that follows a scientific research design to the letter. It consists of a hypothesis, a researcher-controllable variable, and variables that may be measured, computed, and compared. Above all, experimental research is conducted in a controlled setting.

For example, the topic of internet safety is huge, but you could narrow that topic to include internet safety in regards to social media apps that teenagers are using heavily. A topic like that is more specific and will be relevant to your peers. Some questions to think about to help you narrow your topic: What topics of the research interest me the most?
What topics of the research will interest my audience the most?
What topics will the audience find more engaging? Shocking? Inspiring?.
