Which Refugees are more likely to be allowed in the US?.

Scene 2 (9s)

Introduction. Research Question: How does a country’s diplomatic relations with the US government affect the processing of its citizens as refugees into the United States? Lessons from Literature Hatton says that over the past 30 years refugees have started to prefer western civilization Big deciding factor is the connotation it will bring to a country Some countries are more likely to accept refugees from a rival country.

Scene 3 (1m 8s)

Theory. The diplomatic relations/locations of a country with the United States affects the way their citizens are processed as refugees Hypotheses H1: If there is no immediate threat between a country and the US, the worse their diplomatic relations are the more likely the US is to accept their refugees H2: If a country is currently at war and considered dangerous, the refugee seekers from that country will be top priority to the US regardless of diplomatic relation.

Scene 4 (1m 59s)

Research Design – Empirical Tests. Scope of Analysis: Cuba, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, and Syria Unit of Analysis: The times when the US either allowed in or rejected refugees and how long it took for them to be processed Analytical Method: I will write up an analysis of each countries and using the diplomatic relations and locations, I will determine if that influences the processing of their citizens as refugees Notes: I used countries that are in different geographic locations and varying levels of diplomatic relations with the United States.

Scene 5 (2m 53s)

Variables. Dependent Variable: Number of refugees allowed into the United States from the countries of interest Independent Variables Geographic Location Degree of diplomatic relations with US.

Scene 6 (4m 8s)

Prospects. I expect a country’s diplomatic relations will have the greatest impact on the outcome This could be very useful for the people allocating refugees Possible error is not knowing why the US made decisions on certain refugees.
