Scene 1 (0s)

[Audio] Hey mate. I made this short video because I wanted to explain how I'm planning to help with the reno — without getting in your way and without drowning you in spreadsheets or tech stuff. The honest truth is I can't be there swinging a hammer. But I *can* make sure the money side of this doesn't become a nightmare. And I've got a tool that's going to help me do that properly. Give this five minutes. That's all I need..

Scene 2 (23s)

[Audio] **You build it.** Your trade skills are running the show. I'm not going to second-guess your decisions on site — that's your world, not mine. **I manage the numbers.** I'll track every cost, check every quote before you sign anything, and flag it straight away if I think we're drifting off budget. You won't have to worry about that side at all. **And the AI does the heavy lifting.** The tool I'm using is called Claude. Think of it as a very smart assistant that I can ask questions to. I describe what's happening, I paste in the numbers, and it helps me make sense of it all — quickly and accurately, from Sydney. You don't need to understand how it works. That's my job..

Scene 3 (1m 8s)

[Audio] So here's what budget tracking actually looks like for you in practice — and I want you to notice how little I'm asking of you here. **Step one:** every time you get a receipt or invoice — from a builder, a plumber, the hardware shop, whoever — just take a photo of it on your phone. **Step two:** WhatsApp it to me. That's it. That's genuinely all I need from you. **Step three:** I'll enter it on my end and run it through Claude. I'll ask it to categorise everything, total it up, and compare it against our budget. **Step four:** you'll get a message from me once a week — on track, or not on track. Simple as that. On the right you can see the kinds of things I'll be asking Claude — stuff like "here are this week's receipts, categorise and total them" or "we're at £12,000 of an £18,000 budget, what percentage is that and are we on track?" It's like having a very fast accountant on call..

Scene 4 (2m 10s)

[Audio] This one is really important, and I want you to make me a promise: **before you sign anything, send it to me first.** Even a blurry phone photo is fine. Even if it's handwritten on a bit of paper. I don't need a neat scan. WhatsApp it to me and I'll run it through Claude. I'll ask whether that price looks reasonable for the kind of work and the area, whether there's anything unusual in the line items, and what questions we should be asking before we commit. Then I'll come back to you with a simple verdict. Either it looks fair — go ahead. Or there's something worth querying, in which case I'll tell you exactly what to push back on. Or occasionally it might be worth getting a second quote. This is one of the most valuable things I can do from a distance, and it costs you nothing except a phone photo and a WhatsApp..

Scene 5 (3m 0s)

[Audio] Now I know you're not going to sit down and write me a structured project report every week. And I'm not asking you to. Just tell me what's happening. A voice note while you're driving home. A rough text. "The roof guys came today, they reckon there's more to do than the quote said." That's all I need. I'll paste it into Claude and it'll help me turn it into something useful — a clear list of what needs to happen before the next trade comes in, plain-English instructions for anything you're not sure about, a payment schedule to agree with a contractor, or just a quick summary I can share with the family so everyone's in the loop. You talk, I'll translate. That's how we bridge the distance..

Scene 6 (3m 41s)

[Audio] And sometimes you're just going to hit a decision point and not know which way to go. That's completely normal on a job like this. The window frame — do you repair it or replace the whole thing? Ring me. I'll ask Claude to lay out the cost and risk trade-off for both options and we'll decide together. If we get to the point where there's £6,000 left and still a list of jobs, I'll ask Claude to help us prioritise — what's urgent, what's a risk if we leave it, and what's blocking other work from happening. And if you see something like damp and you're not sure if it's serious — don't just ignore it and don't panic. Let me know. Claude can give us a checklist of what to look for so we can work out whether it needs a surveyor or whether it's just surface moisture. Two heads are better than one on this stuff. And Claude is a very patient third opinion..

Scene 7 (4m 36s)

[Audio] So let me just bring it back to what I'm actually asking of you, because it really is simple. Photo your receipts and quotes — send them to me. Voice note or text me when things happen — good or bad. Tell me when something feels off or you're not sure what to do. And then get back to the actual building, which is what you're good at. That's it. I've got the numbers covered. You've got the skills covered. Between the two of us — and a bit of AI help — this gets done right. Thanks for watching, mate. Call me any time..
