INTERESTING FACTS: Rituals: a notable feature in religious ritual is the division between purity and pollution. Religious acts presuppose some degree of impurity, which must be neutralized, before or during ritual procedures. Purification, usually with water, is thus a typical feature of most religious action. Other characteristics include a belief in the efficacy of sacrifice and concept of merit, gained through the performance of charity or good works, that will accumulate over time and reduce sufferings in the next world.

INTERESTING FACTS: R eligious tolerance : d espite predominantly Hindu majority, the Government of India is a secular state that is not committed to any religious group. However, sections of Hindus have tried to combat foreign religious practices. This has led to riots against Muslims and Christians. However, most Hindus are moderate and tend to accept the beliefs of others. Hence, one of the presidents of India, Abdul Karam , was a Muslim, and two of its prime ministers have belonged to religious minorities; Sonia Gandhi (Christian) and Manmohan Singh (Sikh)

He founded the Brahmo Samaj in 1828 as a new religion with Christian style services . Swamidayananda Saraswati was a hindu traditionalist . On the other hand , Vivekananda introduced the Hindu idea that all religions deserve respect as valid paths to God , an idea now firmly established in America . FINAL REFLECTION: Personally, we believe that India is a very interesting country from many aspects, but mainly religiously. The main religion of the country, Hinduism, affects social and cultural s pheres . Their beliefs and rituals are magnificent demonstrations of devotion of the faithful to their divinities. Despite the aforementioned, it seems to us very remarkable that the majority of the population has tolerance and that the various religions can coexist in peace.
