KPI Example in Daily Life For students, KPIs could be # of weekly study hours =20-30 hours, year-end mark > 3.5, etc. For business owners, KPIs could be # of returned goods/month = 0-3, # of units sold/month = 500-700 units, etc.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are quantifiable measurements used to gauge a company’s overall long-term performance.

KPIs vary between companies and between industries, depending on the organization’s objectives.   KPIs, the system targets, should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-related (SMART).

What does ISO 13485 say?. 6.2 Human Resources The organization shall: d) ensure that its personnel are aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.

5.4 Planning 5.4.1 Quality objectives Top management shall ensure that quality objectives, including those needed to meet applicable regulatory requirements and requirements for product, are established at relevant functions and levels within the organization. The quality objectives shall be measurable and consistent with the quality policy.

Companies should deduce quality objectives from oftentimes steady quality policies and define KPIs for them to be able to determine the objectives' degree of achievement. Many companies change nominal values of those KPIs over time (usually tightened up).  - Johner Institute

IPOC holds a Management Review Meeting (MRM) on an annual basis.  Per the relevant SOP, QS-SOP-MAN-002, adequacy and achievement of Quality Objectives/KPIs is reviewed and determined during MRM. 
 For example, most recently, IPOC conducted an MRM in November 2023, and all individual KPIs (as shown on the right) were presented and reviewed to confirm that all targets have been met in the fiscal year of 2023.
