[Audio] What is hazing? Hazing is any humiliating, abusive, or dangerous activity expected of someone joining or maintaining membership in a group, regardless of their willingness to participate..

[Audio] Warning factors and risk factors/ Who is at risk and how to get help Warning signs of hazing include sudden behavioral changes, such as extreme fatigue, secrecy, drop in grades, and physical injuries. Risk factors include involvement in Greek life, athletics, or military groups, especially for new members. People at risk of hazing are typically new members, initiates, or pledges in student organizations, athletic teams, fraternities, sororities, or band programs seeking acceptance. They face physical/mental harm through coercive rituals, often experiencing isolation, abuse, and intense pressure. Victims can get help by reporting incidents to campus administration, police (911 for emergencies), or seeking confidential counseling and support services..

High School Prevalence: An estimated 1.5 million high school students are subjected to hazing each year. 3. Death Toll: Since 1970, there has been at least one hazing-related death on a college campus every year. 5. Athletic Hazing: 74% of student-athletes experience some form of hazing while in college.
