[Audio] Welcome to Crytsalis, I'm Mohanad Raafat, A Cairo University Architecture student, Guided by Doctor Soha Elgohary.
[Audio] In This video I will be talking about Crystalis, A research center for water desalination and Wave power At Alexandria.
[Audio] By 2050, a third of Alexandria could be underwater, displacing 1.5 million residents, with the city sinking over three millimeters annually. The IPCC predicts a meter rise in the Mediterranean within 30 years, posing significant risks to Alexandria..
[Audio] Rising sea levels in Alexandria cause saltwater to infiltrate underground water, making it too salty to use. This threatens clean water access..
[Audio] Crystalis Deals with the rising of Sea-level through the following, Firstly water desalination, secondly converting wave energy to electric energy and thirdly raising the front buildings on a 2-meter platform..
[Audio] My Project is a research center Where Crystal shaped structures symbolizing purity break the modularity of other structures and giving engaging experience. Also the form generation shows how I started creating the base masses according to function, then I started protruding and recessing masses, then I added the four crystals to break the modularity and finally I connected the crystals with bridges..
[Audio] Here we can find the 3D zoning, where there are 4 main zones, a water desalination facility, a Wave power facility, an Educational hub and a cooperative hub. Also there are four crystals each attached to one of the buildings, where the crystal attached to the water desalination facility houses the water tank, and the rest of the crystals are exhibitions..
[Audio] This slide shows the ground floor plan along with the outdoor landscape..
[Audio] Here we can find the main and the side elevations and how they are treated, where pixelated aluminum screens are installed on eastern and western façade for reducing heat and enabling light..
[Audio] Finally in this slide we can see Exterior shots showing the entrance, and another one showing the spine between the buildings and the last one a shot from the wooden platform..
[Audio] Thank you so much for watching.. THANK YOU!.
