[Audio] Korean War Peacekeeper Hope Beauregard For my presentation I interviewed my uncle (Louie Corona) who was a peacekeeper after the Korean war. This is a picture when he was around 18-19 freshly out of high school in the military..
[Audio] Korea before and after the Korean War This was Korea before and after the war. When the war was over they still weren't sure if it was truly completely over. That's where the peacekeepers came in. The peace keepers would be there to keep the peace in Korea as well as prepare for if they were to attack again..
[Audio] Drafting? My uncle stated that he wasn't drafted like others were, but he willingly volunteered to go into the military to serve. He didn't tell anyone, not even his parents or other family members. He said that he wished he would've told his mom to keep her from worrying as much as she did. After he arrived he told his family what he was doing and they weren't the happiest but they supported him. After that he stopped talk to his family until his Sargent yelled at him to write to his family because they missed him..
[Audio] My uncle Louie and his brother Pressie were eventually brought together due to a big battle on Pork Chop Hill. It wasn't a war, but it was a very big battle. Pressie Corona fought in the actual Korean War and was in the military much longer than Louie..
[Audio] Although the peacekeepers didn't fight in the Korean War they were there to also protect in war were to break out again. Louie talked about the war games the would play to prepare incase of war or an attack. They would do drill and different scenarios to prepare if anyone were to attack. At one point it was extremely cold and the snow had come down really heavy. Louie woke up to snow all over his face. The soldiers had to wear 3 pairs of socks because their boots were not isolated and their uniforms weren't very thick..
[Audio] Over all my uncle loved the military. He said it would do it all over again if he.
