The History of NSTP The National Service Training Program (NSTP) was implemented by the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in accordance with the Republic Act (RA) 9163, an Act Establishing The National Service Training Program (NSTP) for Tertiary Level Students, enabling the government to create a program that will encourage the youth to actively participate in civic welfare and literacy initiatives as well as defend the country in times of war .
Three Program Components: Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC) Literacy Training Service (LTS) Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)
ROTC is program institutionalized under Section 38 and 39 of RA No . 7077 designed to provide military training to tertiary level students in order to motivate,and mobilize them for national defense preparedness (Section 3, RA 9163
Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC)
LTS is a program designed to train students to become teachers of literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out of school youth.
Literacy Training Service (LTS
CWTS refers to programs of activities contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for members of the community or the enhancement of its facilities. (Section 3, RA 9163)
