Scene 4 (35s)

[Audio] The life cycle of a frog begins when a female frog lays eggs in water, usually in calm or still bodies of water. The eggs are often laid in masses and can look like a large jelly-like blob from a distance. This jelly protects the eggs from predators and keeps them moist. Depending on the species, the eggs can contain hundreds or even thousands of eggs.

Scene 5 (59s)

[Audio] Tadpoles hatch from tiny eggs that are laid in masses in the water. The gill-breathing tadpole swims in the water. It eventually sprouts legs and absorbs its tail, becoming a froglet and then an adult. The adult breathes air and has no tail..

Scene 6 (1m 16s)

[Audio] When the tadpole reaches the froglet stage, it is almost a full adult. At this point, the tadpole's gills have disappeared, and its lungs have enlarged. This means it is ready to leave the water and live on land. Once its tail disappears, it will become an adult frog..

Scene 7 (1m 35s)

[Audio] And there you have it – the frogs are all grown up, and ready to head out into the big wide world! As adults, frogs and toads are much less reliant on water. So long as they stick to the shade and don't dry out, they can live on land – but they often return to ponds and lakes for a splash! Before too long, the females will look for water to lay her own eggs. Once that's happened, the life cycle is complete.
