The Importance of End-Time Factors. The Rapture as predicted in 1 Corinthians 15: 51-53 also in 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18. The Church must be raptured up before the time of the great tribulation. After the rapture of the Church begins the tribulation period with the reign of the Anti-Christ. (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:29) This is followed by the second coming of Jesus with the saints where we see the battle of Armageddon. (Revelation 1:7-8).

Importance Cont'd. The thousand year reign will follow after this we see the great white throne judgement. This will be a very sad time. The New Heaven and the New Earth will be the last. So there is still a lot of events to come, but we must be rapture ready, as we can discern the signs of the times. (Matthew 24:36,42,44).

End-times Factors. How is the Middle East crisis / Russia Threats related to Ezekiel 38- 39.

History of Israel. Genesis 12:2... God spoke to Abram and told him that He will make him a great nation. Genesis 15:5.. Again the Lord spoke to Abram and promised him that his seed will be like the stars in the sky. (His name was not changed as yet) Genesis 22:17- 18.. God told Abraham that He will multiply his seed like the stars of the heaven and the sand upon the sea shore..

History of Israel Cont'd. From Abraham came Isaac from Isaac came Jacob and Jacob wrestle with God and his name was changed to Israel.(Genesis 32:28). Hence the birth of the nation of Israel (Genesis 46:26-27 / Exodus 1:5 – 7) The tribe of Israel were known as Israelites..

Israel. Israel stands at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa. It belongs to the Asian continent, and is part of the Middle East region. In the west, is the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon and Syria border to the north, Jordan to the east, Egypt to the southwest and the Red Sea to the South..

Modern Israel. The current population of Israel is 9,402,958 and this is equivalent to 0.12% of the total world population. People in Israel today are know as Israelis..

How is the Middle East Crisis/ Russia threats related to Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39.

Ezekiel Chapter 38. Firstly,the name Russia is not found anywhere in the Bible..

Ezekiel 38. As mentioned Russia is not found in the bible but Magog is a land surrounding Russia. So this is the geographic Linguistically ...Rosh means "Chief" or "head" also Rosh could refer to an ancient people who lived in the region of modern-day Russia..

Therefore, Ezekiel's reference to his original audience speaks directly to Russia..

Ezekiel's reference to Russia. Russia is not mentioned by name but Ezekiel 38-39 refers to a nation coming from northern Asia to attack Israel. Recent events have shown that Russia is gaining strength. In the Soviet era, Moscow was solidly aligned with several Muslim countries in opposition to Israel. Today we can see that Russia continues to make overtures to the Muslim world. (Ezekiel 38:13).

Gog. Gog is the name of a national leader. (Ezekiel 38:1-2) Gog is the Prince of Rosh, or the leader of Russia Gog is from the land of Magog. (verse 2).

Magog. Magog was also the name of one of Noah's grandson (Genesis 10:2, 1 Chronicles 1:5) Magog's descendants settled around the Black and Caspian Seas on Russia's southern border..

The Region around the southern border is the former Soviet Union countries..

This region is identified as the "Stan" countries..

Meshech and Tubal. They are grandsons of Noah (Genesis 10:2). Their descendants established cities or territories bearing their names. C.I. Scofield identifies Meshech as Moscow and Tubal as Tobolsk. Other scholars identify these territories in modern Turkey..

Modern Turkey. The current population of Turkey is 87,473,805 which is 1.07% of the world total population..

Persia. Persia is mentioned in Ezekiel 38:5 and about 35 more times in scripture. In 1935, Persia changed its name to Iran. In 1979, it became the Islamic Republic of Iran. Today it is Russia's strongest ally and Israel's strongest enemy. This alliance will continue in the latter days..

Modern Persia. The population of Iran today is 91,567,738. They have increased by 1.1% per year over the past decade..

Ethiopia. Was founded by another of Noah's grandsons (Genesis 10:6). Ethiopia is one of two north African nations that will join the alliance (Ezekiel 38:5). The current population of Ethiopia is 132,475,13..

Ancient Ethiopia. Ancient Ethiopia is the land south of Egypt. So far relationship with Israel have been peaceful thus far even though there are fractions that might not like this..

Libya. This is land west of Egypt. Libya is the only nation on Ezekiel's list that retains its ancient name today. Libya was founded by Put, another grandson of Noah. (Genesis 10:6).

Libya. Today Libya's official religion is Islam. Also they have maintained strong ties with Russia. The current population of Libya is 7,389,898..

Gomer. This is another of Noah's grandsons. Genesis (10:2-3) Its location is considered to be far north. Some say that it is modern day Germany because of the similarities of their names..

Scriptural evidence of Gomer. Gomer is mentioned in Ezekiel 38:6 as part of a coalition of nations led by Gog that will come against Israel in the last days. Gomer is described as coming from the far north. Gomer is often associated with the Cimmerians, an ancient people who lived in what is now southern Russia and Ukraine. As well as Ashkenazi Jews who lives in Rhineland and Danube valleys in Germany, Ashkenaz was a son of Gomer. (Genesis 10:3).

Modern Germany in comparison to Israel. To get to Israel from Germany can take between five to six hours by plane depending from which airport that you fly from. Train takes approximately 7 and a quarter hours. Germany is in a northwesterly direction from Israel..

Togarmah. Togarmah is one of Noah's great- grandsons (Genesis 10:3) Ezekiel places this tribe in "the far north"(Ezekiel 38:6) He was known in Assyrian records as Til-garimmu, a city state in Eastern Anatolia (Asia Minor, modern Turkey)..

Togarmah. Togarmah is another country aligned with Russia. The sons of Togarmah can be traced to Central Asia. Four of the ancient locations Ezekiel gives are found today in Turkey. Turkey today is not as hard-core Muslim as some of the other nations in Ezekiel's list, but they are an Islamic nation..

Turkey. Up to quite recently, Turkey has been an ally of Israel. However, that power is now waning because Islamic influences has begun to rise in Turkey. This Islamic influence has increased with every succeeding elections..

Turkey. Turkey is linked to Central Asia both linguistically and ethnically, it has a natural relationship to these nations. Since the breakup of the former Soviet Union, Turkey has been able to strengthen her relationship with them greatly. 4 out of the 5 former Soviet Central Asian republics are Turkic speaking, Tajikistan is the exception, with a Persian dialect. This is an example of the alliances forged between the nations listed in Ezekiel 38..

Turkey. There has been a recent rise of political Islam. Since gaining power the politician have been gradually moving Turkey away from the west towards the east. This is mainly because of its Islamic roots and the EU's rejection of Turkey..

Turkey. If Turkey moves away from the west she will come under Russian influence. This will give Russia control over the vital ports on the mediterranean and the ability to outflank much of Europe. The Turkish empire was the seat of the Islamic Caliphate. Today the Islamic world awaits its restoration. This all sets the stage for the events of Ezekiel 38..
