Scene 1 (0s)

[Audio] Hi, everyone. We are PLT Team 10 from the English Department. We are pleased to present our EL Learning Space to you..

Scene 2 (9s)

[Audio] Glad to have you here as we share on our project. We hope to share our vision with you and perhaps gather your perspectives to enhance this initiative..

Scene 3 (23s)

[Audio] This is our journey as we rethink the learning space and what we wish to see in it..

Scene 4 (30s)

[Audio] To help us innovate the learning space, we use Design Thinking as a framework. Here you see the 5 stages of Design Thinking. Let's begin at Empathy..

Scene 5 (39s)

[Audio] In our rapidly changing world, the skills and knowledge required for success are very different from those of the past. Just as traditional teaching methods is no longer sufficient to prepare students for the future, how about our learning space? Beyond the classroom, our students have limited platforms to showcase their speaking/presentation skills and that set our team off on our PLC path..

Scene 6 (48s)

[Audio] So, how might we create a showcase space that is well-equipped, safe and welcoming, one which instills a strong sense of confidence and promote creativity in Speaking?.

Scene 7 (1m 1s)

[Audio] Well, our team has come together with the aim to redesign a performing area to better serve and inspire our learners in an enhanced world..

Scene 8 (1m 13s)

[Audio] This space not only provides a platform to showcase students' talent, but also supports various skills development. For instance, in group performances, students are encouraged to engage in design thinking, planning, and executing their creative ideas. In the process, they learn to work together, communicate effectively, and collaborate towards a common goal. These all encapsulate essential enhanced 21st-century competencies..

Scene 9 (1m 42s)

[Audio] We want the learning space to be a change agent so we are highly attuned to the needs we must cater for..

Scene 10 (1m 50s)

[Audio] The space must allow for diverse activities such as storytelling, poetry reading, short skits, or even singing performances. This variety keeps the programme engaging and caters to different interests and talents. As such, we want a stage that incorporate: firstly, stimulation e.g. colours, displays and layout that are attractive and create a sense of joy and buzz for students to partake in the activities (vi)Sustainability i.e. to create a sustainable programme for verbal presentations My suggestions: TED-Style Talks: Skills Developed: Public speaking, creativity, research, technology literacy. Description: Students choose a topic they are passionate about, research it thoroughly, and present their findings in a format similar to a TED Talk. This helps them develop their ability to communicate complex ideas engagingly and persuasively. Persuasive Speeches: [This would promote student advocacy.] Skills Developed: Public speaking, persuasion, research, ethical reasoning. Description: Students choose a stance on an issue, research supporting evidence, and deliver a persuasive speech aimed at convincing the audience of their viewpoint..

Scene 11 (3m 12s)

[Audio] Next, Ownership whereby the space can empower our students to take greater ownership of their learning, especially so in the Speaking domain..

Scene 12 (3m 25s)

[Audio] Also, we are clear that must cater for (A) technology that eases the processes to use the space e.g. to built-in user-friendly audio-visual system, (B) Smart Space Utilisation where we can apply creative space saving functions in the furniture or layout design and finally (C), Flexibility i.e. in the use of flexible multi-purpose resources like mobile, modular furniture.

Scene 13 (3m 56s)

[Audio] Lastly, we feel we must not overlook the factor of Sustainability not in just the physical space, but also the programmes that will make the space come alive and an indispensible asset to the school's Teaching & Learning.

Scene 14 (4m 13s)

[Audio] In addition, looking beyond the physical space, we have defined that we also need to cater to the e21CC-bound learners..

Scene 15 (4m 22s)

[Audio] As we already have these speaking programmes currently in place to build strong communicators, we understand that our re-designed learning space should enhance existing programmes and create opportunities for more..

Scene 16 (4m 37s)

[Audio] With the Learning Space, we see an enhanced future whereby simple storytelling and online content creation can make way for interactive storytelling and TED-style talks. When aligned well with pedagogy, our learning space provides students not only with the content knowledge but also the life-long skills required in real world settings..

Scene 17 (5m 3s)

[Audio] we need the video file of this clip. [image].

Scene 18 (5m 11s)

[Audio] In addition, with a well-purposed and designed space, we can move forth speaking competitions to include persuasive speeches catering to an audience as well as use the space to showcase interdisciplinary projects..

Scene 19 (5m 36s)

[Audio] Bearing all those in mind, we got on to Ideation!.

Scene 20 (5m 44s)

[Audio] Our learning space is not an ordinary one so we will need some very creative furniture and hardware, perhaps this portable stage that can be easily configured to suit different needs..

Scene 21 (5m 57s)

[Audio] We envision going vertical for the efficient use of limited space - ideal system choice would be wall-mounted solutions. We also desire innovative space efficiency where furniture pieces are retractable and come with hidden storage e.g. benches with storage for microphones, etc..

Scene 22 (6m 16s)

[Audio] In an ideal world, our Learning Space would have An LED backdrop that can easily be changed to suit different scenes and shows. In addition, incorporating innovative technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, AI and Gamification will not only showcase the skills but also provide an immersive experience for the audience..

Scene 23 (6m 43s)

[Audio] Ready for a peek of our prototype?. [image] EMPATHIZE DEFINE 5 STAGES OF IDEATE PROTOTYPE TEST.

Scene 24 (6m 52s)

[Audio] Please take a look at it.. SNEAK PEEK. Take a look at our prototype.

Scene 25 (6m 59s)

[Audio] IS this a video? can we have the video embedded please? This nicely-wrapped box of chocolates is a nice analogy of how we want our Learning Space to be neatly packed but when unfolded or opened, a lovely treat awaits!.

Scene 26 (7m 16s)

[Audio] We envision the Sparks Theatre to be colourful with wall-mounted in-built sound system, storage spaces, high-quality lighting and comfortable floor mats, easily accessed in the cleverly hidden stage design, for comfortable seating by the audience..

Scene 27 (7m 35s)

[Audio] Let's bring this inspiring space to life - a place where our students can discover their passions, develop essential 21st-century skills, and build on their strengths. Your support can make this vision a reality!.

Scene 28 (7m 49s)

[Audio] Thank you for listening to our team's vision for a new Learning Space..
