[Audio] Largest open air prison in the world: Gaza Palestine is composed of 2 regions: the Gaza strip and West bank The Gaza strip borders with Israel, Egypt and the mediterranean sea The west bank borders with Israel, Jordan, and the dead sea Gaza strip measures 141 sq mi which is roughly the same size of Detroit The population of Gaza is 2.2 million, Comparing to the population of Detroit which is 632,454.

[Audio] Palestine after wwI After WWI all of the ottoman territories were placed under the UK administration by the league of nations. Almost all the territories became independent states, except Palestine. (United Nations) In 1922, the league of nations placed Palestine under the British administration. The administration supported the idea placing of Jewish National Home in Palestine. There was a British mandate between 1922-1947. During that period there was a huge wave of immigration of Jews, especially because of Nazi Persecution..

[Audio] The partition plan On November 1947 the UN decided to partition Palestine into 2 Independent states. The UN decided to place Jerusalem under their administration. In 1948 Israel declared independence and they captured more Palestinian land than what the Partition plan had allocated. Except for what we now know as Gaza and the west bank The Gaza strip was held by Egypt and the West Bank by Jordan This caused the Nakba (the Catastrophe).

[Audio] The Nakba Palestinians refer to the war as "Nakba" , which translates to Catastrophe. "While Jewish Israelis call the 1948 war 'The War of Independence',"( Gideon 2021) This event left 700,000 Palestinians displaced from their homes. Most of them ended in refugee camps in Gaza, West, bank, and other neighboring countries. "Those who remained in Israel received Israeli citizenship but were subject to martial law until 1966 and their citizenship status is still inferior to the Jewish Israeli majority." (Gideon 2021).

[Audio] Timeline after Nakba June 1967- 6 day war between Israel and Neighboring Arab States This war forced half a million of Palestinians to flee. And Israel occupied Gaza and the west bank. Gradually Jews started to settle in. 1974- PLO became the sole representative of the Palestinian people. Palestinian Liberation Organization. 1987- The Intifada The first Uprising against the Israeli occupation. The Israeli forces used methods that resulted in many injuries and deaths of Palestinians 2012- Palestine was granted the UN non-member observer state status. In 2014 the Security Council demanded Israel to cease all illegal settlement, However Israeli settlements in Palestine keep expanding.

[Audio] Blockades and attacks since oct.7 On October 9 Israel Imposed a total blockade towards Gaza, which means they can't receive food, water, electricity, fuel, and medicine. 9 hospitals were bombed by Israel. On Dec 3, 2023 Israel launched its 10,000 airstrike in Gaza.

[Audio] Death and Injury toll in Gaza (since Oct. 7, 2023- Dec. 4, 2023) 15,523 Killed in Gaza including 6,600 children 41,316 injured 6,800 of the injured people are missing 75% of them are children and women.
