Pathophysiology of COVID-19. First detected in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. Declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation on the 11th March 2020. Similar to previous coronavirus SARS and classified as SAR-CoV-2 ( Bourgonje et al’s ., 2020).

Pathophysiology of COVID-19. COVID-19 is an enveloped RNA virus transmitted via air droplets. The viral spike on the cell binds to angiotensin converting enzyme 2 which mediates cell entry. ACE 2 is prevalent in lung alveolar allowing easy transmission and infection. (Katopodis et al’s ., 2021).
