What is the AKDN?. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a group of international, private, non-denominational development agencies and institutions that seek to empower communities and individuals, usually in disadvantaged circumstances, to improve living conditions and opportunities. His Highness The Aga Khan Shah Karim is the Founder and Chairman for AKDN He is the 49 th hereditary Iman (Spiritual Leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims The title “His Highness” was granted to him by Her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain in 1957.
