PAWS EXTENSION PERIOD. This year we have a rolling bell schedule that extends one period per day for 30 minutes. This allows students to receive extra help, make up assignments, or use CommonLit to gain additional practice with reading analysis skills. Day 1—First Period extension, Day 2—Second Period extension, etc. During my extension, students will either be completing missed assignments/getting additional help, working on a skill on which they need more practice, or reading independently. They will write a short summary at the end of the reading. Students may NOT be on phones or doing work for another class during extension..

Scene 8 (6m 3s)

Educational Philosophy. Students learn best in collaboration with other students. Every student can learn and it is my job to find the spark inside them so they can help themselves succeed. It is my job to be a positive role model for students as well as give them the tools and opportunities to succeed. I operate with a growth mindset. I tell my students to always try to be better today than you were yesterday. There is no such thing as failure, only a learning opportunity. Teaching high school is my dream job and I love it. I emphasize the positive (you might see your student have a “positive post-it” and I usually try to give one to every student once per quarter for a positive reason as much as possible..

You are expected to be in class and participate in class. If you are out of class, you cannot achieve the learning target for that day, and accordingly, should receive no credit. Students who return to class with food items will also be given a zero (O) for that day. Makeup/Late Work Policy By school policy, no work will be assigned to students with unexcused absences/tardies. If you are absent and furnish a note to attendance which would deem you excused, you will have 3 days from the date of absence to complete the work without penalty. Note: One product grade (not a common assessment, or the Common Lit test) per quarter is eligible for re-assessment. Students will need to complete an electronic learning path form to be allowed to resubmit. Also, no assignment can be reassessed during the last 5 days of any A1 IJsage All work in English III should be the for essays should be property documented using MLA tormatting. In a case where A1 is used without the permission or oversight of a teacher, guardians will also be contacted. which includes the failure to properly cite sources, is a SERIOUS violation of academic honesty. Unauthorized usage of A1, and/or the failure to property cite sources, will result in a grade of ZERO (O) with no opportunity to resubmit. The best policy would be to use your own knowledge and proper research to complete assignments, cite sowces property, and/or use A1 only with a TEACHER'S permission, supervision, and proper documentation. Grading Grades will be updated regularly, at least once per week. Remember that your grades are 50% process and 50% product. Each assignment.
