IT WAS TASKED TO ACQUIRE, STORE AND DISTRIBUTE NAVAL ORDNANCE AND AMMUNITION. ON 24 JULY 1967, THE NAVAL ORDNANCE DEPOT WAS PLACED UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE NAVAL SHORE ESTABLISHMENT HOWEVER, THE NAVY, REALIZING THE NEED FOR A MORE EFFICIENT OPERATION AND SUPERVISION OF THE ARMAMENTS, AMMUNITION AND OTHER RELATED MATERIEL IN THE PN INVENTORY, ACTIVATED THE NAVAL WEAPONS FACILITY ON 01 NOVEMBER 1976 AS A SPECIAL UNIT OF THE PHILIPPINE NAVY PURSUANT TO GO NR 556 PHDP DATED 09 NOVEMBER 1976. [Audio] CSMU FUNCTIONS Conduct systems engineering services such as design, fabrication, testing, QRA, refurbishment, rehabilitation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of all combat systems in the PN floating assets; Conduct Depot Level Maintenance and Repair of WCE equipment and PN Material Inspections, Trials and Surveys (INSURV), and Technical Assistance (TA) of all combat systems of PN floating assets; Organize Technical Assistance Team (TAT) capable of rendering TA in terms of repair on all combat systems of PN floating assets. Provide instructors to train PN personnel in repairing and maintaining all combat systems of PN floating assets; and Ensure technical expertise of WCE personnel for deployment aboardship. AND THEY ARE KNOWN TO HAVE THESE FUNCTIONS WHICH MAKES THEM RELIABLE IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF WCE EQUIPMENT Install and test combat systems equipment. Conduct Depot Level repair and maintenance of all combat systems equipment in the PN inventory. Organize Technical Assistance Teams (TATs) capable of assisting in repairing combat systems equipment onboard PN vessels in the operational area. In coordination with NSSTC, train PN personnel to repair and maintain all weapons, communications, and electronic systems equipment..

Corroborate with other forms of intelligence data for a holistic classification of recorded surface, air, and land contacts; Manage database storage for electronic signatures of known and unknown emitters; Provide Electronic Order of Battle and verified ELINT and COMINT information to PN operating units; Serve as technical members for TWG and PMT relating to EW capabilities. Serve as instructors to basic EW courses of the PN; and Ensure technical expertise of EW personnel for deployment aboardship. THEIR FUNCTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS: organize, train, equip, maintain and deploy EW asset for the conduct of EW operations; formulate and evaluate doctrines and tactics, techniques, and procedures on Electronic Warfare; and To provide a System Engineering Plan and conduct installation and testing of EW equipment.
