[Audio] Hello everyone, I am Walter Grezsik, and this is my reasoning for taking wildlife management..
[Audio] Since I was young, I loved being outside in nature and exploring. My parents said they always had trouble finding me because I would venture off and I am sure they wish child leashes were around back then. I went into Cub Scouts at five years old which continued my enjoyment for the outdoors and exploring it, while learning many other beneficial skills and the importance of keeping our environments clean..
[Audio] While growing up, I often fished both recreationally and for food. I learned the importance and value in the fish I would take or release and their part to the environment. I always wanted to try hunting when I was younger but only got to small game around the house until about six years ago when I started going for big game. I have learned a lot about what it is to be a sportsman when it comes to wildlife, and I try to carry on the values every time I am in the outdoors. I recently taken up trapping as I learned the importance for population control on some of those trappable species..
[Audio] Being able to manage the population of a species can and should be done for many reasons. Some of the reasons I found myself doing this were for disease control amongst whitetail deer. Allowing future generations by harvesting dominant males who kill young. Balancing the number of animals in an area, mainly beaver as they change the environment from other animals who might need to now relocate..
[Audio] When it comes to animals, whether domesticated or wild game, they serve as a vital role in the animal food chain. Animals provide for each other through and through to include us. This is part of the reason I do not let any of my harvests go to waste. I find ways to make use of every animal I take, whether that is food, clothing, blankets, taxidermy, bait, dog food, or anything else I can think of. I think every life is precious and should not be taken advantage of..
[Audio] I am very grateful for the experiences I have had and will continue to have that include my love for the great outdoors and the beautiful wildlife around the world. I value everything that has provided for me and that will hopefully continue to do so. I have learned so much about wildlife and am always accepting to learn more especially through this course. I will never lose my interest or enjoyment of the outdoors and the wildlife!.
