Meiosis, ft. Oreos. Samantha Hansen & Jaden Lux.
Interphase:. Diploid: Complete sets of chromosomes Nuclear Envelope.
Prophase I:. Crossing over: → Nuclear envelope dissolves Microtubules begin.
Metaphase I:. Microtubules attached at centromeres Lined up on metaphase plate.
Anaphase I:. Chromosomes are split apart, into sister chromatids Pulled to opposite sides of the cell by microtubules.
Telophase I & Cytokinesis. Genetic material begins to be surrounded by nuclear envelope again Cell splits from one cell into 2 daughter cells.
Intermission. Please enjoy this small break. Get a snack, drink some water, or have a dance party. :).
Prophase II:. Nuclear envelope dissipates Microtubules appear No duplication of the DNA, as this next step is for forming gametes(Haploids).
Metaphase II:. Chromosomes line up at metaphase plate How they line up impacts the genetic information that the gametes will receive Independent Assortment.
Anaphase II:. Separates sister chromatids Pulls them to either side of the cell This is what’s getting split up now:.
Telophase II & Cytokines. Generates 4 unique daughter cells All daughter cells are haploids Will be used to produce genetically varied offspring.
That’s all Folks!.
