[Audio] Hello and welcome to my year 8 Media presentation. My name is _OluwaTobiloba Gbajabiamila___ and today I will be analysing and evaluating how two different film posters use Media codes and conventions to represent ideas and show genre..

[Audio] Black Panther is a 2022 American super hero film directed by Ryan Coogler,. It stars Letitia Wright as Shuri the new black panther, who, fought and protect Wakanda from the Namor the Sub-Mariner,(Tenoch Huerta) and works with the military leader of Wakanda Okoye(Danai Jekesai Gurira), they fight against Namor with the Wakandain forces but at the end of the movie Namor and Shuri have a peace triety to protect Wakanda. The poster you see here was used heavily in marketing the film. The conventions this poster contains are the film's title, two main images, a rating/award, the names of the famous actors involved and a production blurb..

[Audio] This slide shows an in depth analysis of each convention of the poster. I have spoken about how colour, font, imagery, scale and text are used in each convention to show meaning. I have thought about how these things show the films genre and also how they represent the themes and ideas that are within the movie..

[Audio] Here, I have analysed the overall layout of the Black Panther poster. I wanted to draw conclusions as to why the designer chose to place things where they were. I thought about how these choices effected the memorability of the poster and how this contributed to the successful marketing on the film..

[Audio] This slide shows my very in depth analysis of each convention on the poster. I wanted to talk about how the poster used colour and imagery to show meaning. I thought about the text, scale and size used when analysing this poster. I talked about how these things showed the film's genre, themes and how these could have helped with advertising..

Page 9 (4m 47s)

[Audio] This shows my analysis of the layout of the poster. I thought about why the poster designer may have placed things where they are and chosen the scale that they did. I tried to conclude why they dedicated so much space to imagery and why they wanted the audience's eye to those features..

Page 10 (5m 24s)

[Audio] This slide shows my evaluation of Coach Carter . I made judgement about the effectiveness of the conventions and codes used to show genre, storyline and advertise the film. I thought about how the colours, text, layout and images contributed to this and came to the conclusion that the poster effectively shows the psychological horror genre. However, I believe that due to the small font of the title, the poster is not as effective at advertising the film..

Page 11 (5m 54s)

[Audio] What you see here is my evaluation and comparison of both posters. I made a final judgement here on which poster I believe was more successful in showing genre and advertising the film. I decided that both films used conventions and codes to effectively show genre, but Black Panther was a more successful advertising tool..
