Scene 1 (0s)

Conclusion. It may be concluded that s ociety disables the crippled, not their biology. Disabled persons have existed in all historical periods and societies but t he Disabled rights have just recently been acknowledged. Disability, handicap, crippled, blind, and deaf are used interchangeably in India. These are common insults. In a culture that values bodily perfection, any deviations are unnatural, defective, and distorted. ‘ Bechara ’ word is emphasised to magnify the disabled person's victimhood. Destiny is blamed for crippled people's plight. Disability is seen as unavoidable karma for past sins. Malnutrition, women weakened by recurrent delivery, inadequate immunisation programmes, and accidents in overcrowded houses all contribute to a greater disability rate among impoverished people. Disability produces and exacerbates poverty by increasing isolation and economic hardship for the person and family. Disabled individuals are among the poorest in developing countries because the education and employment opportunities for the disabled persons are almost negligible. Moreover, the marriage prospects of persons with disability are also minimal. One-eyed persons are considered as bad omen in our culture. In short, the society has grossly mistreated and disrespected persons with disabilities. Thus, it is the need of the hour, that at governmental level facilities for the disabled persons should be ensured at any cost. At societal level, instances of mental abuse of any form should be controlled and also the person with any kind of disability should be treated with utmost respect..
