Kuwait Fund For Arab Economic Development is the first institution in the Middle East that took an active role in the international development efforts. The Kuwait Fund extends Loans on concessionary term to finance development projects in the developing countries. The Fund also provides technical assistance to finance the costs of the feasibility studies of projects, as well as the training of nationals of the borrowing countries. In addition, the Fund subscribes in the capital of international and regional development institutions. Today, the Kuwait Fund forms a solid bridge of friendship and solidarity between the state of Kuwait and the developing nations.

This impactful contribution has supported various organizations including the World Health Organization, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, US Carter Center and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, demonstrating the Kuwait Fund's commitment towards tackling infectious diseases. Kuwait Fund’s contributions to backing global anti-malaria, diseases efforts amount to KD 4.7 million  26/04/2023

Kuwait  Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has announced that its total contributions to backing global efforts in combating anti-malaria and other infectious diseases have amounted to KD 4.7 million (around USD 15.5 million) until April 2023. In a press release, marking the World Malaria Day, Kuwait Fund said it was so keen on supporting programs and efforts to fight malaria on a global scale. In this regard, it revealed that it has contributed a sum of KD 2.2 million (USD 7.2 million) to the World Health Organization (WHO) and KD 1.5 million (around USD 4.8 million) to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Fund went on to say that contributions worth KD 699,000 and 304,000 (around USD 2.2 million and USD 992,000) were allocated to the US Carter Center and the  Gavi , the Vaccine Alliance respectively to combat malaria. Moreover, KFAED also backed efforts by WHO's Global Malaria Control and Elimination program, established in 2008, in addition to the program launched by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in 2002. The World Malaria Day, marked on April 25, is a global event that highlights the need for a continuous political commitment to invest in malaria prevention and elimination efforts.
