[Audio] The Trade Investments Education Exchange Mission (TIEEM)2023 was formed by the Jumuiya Economic Development Secretariat and the Organizing Committee Wapwani Diaspora & Friends in order to foster economic and educational exchange between the 6 coastal Kenya counties. Mombasa County is the largest of the six with its Mombasa Port being a major economic hub. Kwale County is south of Mombasa and is known for its sandy beaches and islands. Kilifi County has a long beachfront, three major towns and is the second largest county. Tana River County, further inland, has the largest geography and is home to the Tana River Delta and major city Hola. Lamu County, located near the northernmost point, has an archipelago and the Lamu Port. The final county, Taita Taveta, is known for its two large national parks and towns of Voi and Wundanyi. This mission offers the chance to explore the economic and educational potential of these Kenyan counties..

[Audio] TIEEM2023 is a regional initiative between Kenya's coastal county governors, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and other key stakeholders to promote trade, investments and educational collaborations in the region. To achieve this vision, several strategic initiatives have been identified, including the Governors Coordinating and Executive Committee for Tourism, Trade and Investments, the Governors Coordinating and Executive Committee for Finance and Economic Planning, the CEO of an Investment Company or Trade Board or Nominated Governor, Secretariat and Technical Support. This is all in pursuit of Jumuiya 2.0, a regional economic bloc focused on sustainable development, poverty eradication and economic transformation..

[Audio] The Jumuiya Economic Development Secretariat, responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Trade Investments Education Exchange Mission (TIEEM) 2023, is proud to present its esteemed board and organizing committee. CEO Emmanuel K. Nzai heads the Secretariat, joined by Amb. Elkana Odembo, former ambassador of Kenya to the United States; Gladys Mnjama, advisor in investments, financial services and partnerships; Rachel Wughanga, executive secretary; Allan Mwamuye, legal counsel; Denis M. Lewa, Economic Advisor and Director; Lisa Kibutu, advisor at Gokenyacoast; Sahale Bawaziri, CEO of Mombasa Investment Corporation; and Lynn Farah, Chief Officer Trade of Kilifi County Government. [Audio] The Jumuiya Ya Kaunti Za Pwani is a regional economic bloc composed of the ten coastal counties of Kenya. To promote the economic development of the region, the bloc has established the Jumuiya Economic Development Secretariat, which will create and maintain a Jumuiya Investment Fund to offer the member counties access to public-private partnerships. The bloc also operates the Jumuiya 10 Sector Working Groups, which seeks to harmonize policies across the ten counties. This will support more unified policy implementation and facilitate natural resource management, tourism, trade and economic development within the region. The Jumuiya Ya Kaunti Za Pwani is driven by the Triple Helix model of regional economic development, which encourages collaboration between different government levels, universities/professionals, industry and development partners, in order to create a prosperous future for the coastal counties of Kenya..

[Audio] The TIEEM2023 Trade Investments Education Exchange Mission is a regional economic bloc of Kenyan coastal counties established by the Jumuiya Economic Development Secretariat, Wapwani Diaspora & Friends, and several other county governments with the aim of achieving a shared prosperity for the area by 2030. To this end, the mission seeks to serve its goal through the utilization of ten economic pillars and four social pillars. These include Agribusiness, Food Nutrition & Security, Trade & Industries, Blue Economy, Natural Resources & Environment, Coastal Urbanization, Foundations & Enablers, Governance, Infrastructure, Land Resource Development, Financial Services, and Employment. In order to facilitate the implementation of the mission, the Jumuiya Innovation Lab and Jumuiya Investment Fund have been created, and JKP (6) Sector Working Groups have been assigned to ensure the successful execution of it. [Audio] TIEEM 2023 seeks to advance economic growth in the Kenya Coastal Region through Jumuiya 2030, an initiative that emphasizes enhancing skills, job and income, business growth and occupational training. It concentrates on approaches which support movement from secondary school to vocational and technical colleges (VTCs) and universities, as well as the development of six Jumuiya Innovation Labs to back micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs). These measures are intended to assure enhanced efficiency, raise job opportunity and offer larger incomes for a fair economic development in the region..

[Audio] The Jumuiya Fund is an Equity Fund owned by the Member Counties of the Jumuiya Ya Kaunti Za Pwani Regional Economic Bloc. It pools and leverages resources within the Member Counties to invest in key strategic sectors, taking advantage of public-private partnerships (PPP) and addressing sub-optimal investment or market failure due to risk levels. The Fund targets the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within the region by co-investing with the private sector in Special Purpose Vehicles. When milestones are achieved, the Fund can exit investments. The ultimate goal is to use resources to unlock the economic potential of the Kenya Coast region, utilizing the County Government Act (S.6(5)), the Public Financial Management Act (S.182-14) and the Companies Act. It is made up of the Jumuiya Fund and the respective County Investment Corporations. Investment opportunities in the Kenya Coast region are plentiful in areas such as health care, food production, trade & logistics, and water. Kilifi County offers investors the Affordable Housing Project, a Dairy Processing Plant and an Irrigation Development Initiative.
