Chapter 1:The Coming of the Iron Man. The Iron Man stood on top of a cliff in the dark. He stepped off the cliff and fell down, crash, crash, crash. His arms, legs, head, eyes and ears broke off and scattered on the beach. One iron hand found an eye and could see. The hand searched and found the other hand, then the arms and legs. The pieces joined back together to make the Iron Man again. The Iron Man walked into the sea and stood in the waves..

Chapter 2:The Return of the Iron Man. A boy named Hogarth saw the Iron Man and told his dad. His dad got his gun and drove to other farms to warn people. Farmers found that all their iron machines (tractors, ploughs) had gone missing. The Iron Man had eaten the machines. The farmers dug a huge hole to trap the Iron Man. They put a rusty lorry in the hole as bait, but later took it away. Hogarth had an idea to use the hole to trap a fox. Instead of a fox, the Iron Man came back, pulling up and eating barbed wire..

Scene 6 (1m 29s)

Chapter 3. A family having a picnic on a green hill feels the ground shake, and a big crack opens up. An enormous Iron Man pulls himself out of the crack, scaring the family away. The farmers want to call the Army to destroy the Iron Man, but a clever boy called Hogarth has a better plan. Hogarth promises the Iron Man all the metal he can eat if he follows them peacefully. The Iron Man happily stays in a scrap-metal yard, eating old cars and machines, and his eyes glow a calm blue..

Scene 7 (1m 54s)

Chapter 4 The Space-Being and the Iron Man. A tiny star in the sky starts getting bigger and bigger – it is rushing towards Earth. Out of the star comes a huge, scary dragon-like monster that lands on Australia. The monster demands to be fed living things (people, animals, plants) or it will destroy the world. All the armies on Earth attack the monster, but their weapons do nothing – the monster just smiles. Hogarth asks the Iron Man for help, and the Iron Man agrees to fight the monster as Earth’s champion..

Scene 8 (2m 20s)

Chapter 5 – The Iron Man’s Challenge. The Iron Man is taken apart and flown to Australia in pieces, then put back together. He challenges the space monster to a test of strength: lying in a red-hot fire. The Iron Man lies on a burning grid and becomes white-hot without being hurt – the monster is amazed. The monster has to lie on the sun to match the Iron Man, but it gets badly burned and gives up. The monster becomes the Iron Man’s slave and sings beautiful space music, which makes the whole world peaceful..
