Company Background. Simplify Technologies for Your Lifestyle or better known as STYL Solutions is a FINTECH IoT company incorporated in 2008 by a group of experienced technopreneurs with diverse backgrounds from multinational electronics companies. STYL Solutions focuses on creating cutting edge solutions with contactless payment and IoT technology for marketspaces. In the duration of this internship, I was assigned to the deployment team as an operations engineer..

What have I accomplished Pt.1. Office Work Quality Checking over 2000 POSB Smart Buddy Watches. Uploading e-certificates into BF-200 readers. Recording used 3G and 4G SIM cards into a master list and physically organized them separately. Retiring 3G SIM cards with low usage rates in the past 3 months. Assembly of the BF-200 POS terminals. Auditing Excel Files Recording Important Inventory.

What have I accomplished pt. 2. On-Site Work Go-Live, assist schools which just introduced the use of the POS terminals Deployment, Retrieve and service terminals Updating 021 reader ORCA Replacement, replacing old ORCA terminals with the new BF-200 terminals in different schools across Singapore. Played a major role in the 3.0 SAM swap exercise as part of the deployment team. Completed over 160 schools..

3.0 SAM Swap exercise. Upgrade terminals in over 160 schools to accommodate the new CEPAS 3.0 Simply-Go Ez-link cards. Perform Settlement before shutting down the terminal and wait for office team to add ASCAN Acquirer Replace the old 2.0 SAM card with the new 3.0 SAM card Change terminal acquirer from NETS to ASCAN Restart the terminal and perform test transactions..

Challenges/ Solutions. Challenges Fast paced working environment (especially on site) Technical errors occurring randomly Communicating with stall owners and school faculties Solutions Better time management Critical Thinking (Problem Solving Skills) Better communication skill.

Reflection on Workplace Diversity. 2024. Colleagues hailing from various countries and ethnicity (Myanmar, Vietnam, Malay) Language barrier between some colleagues and stall owners on site (Malay and Hindu speaking) Sensitive religious and racial topics causing friction.

Job/ Technical skills and Life skills Pt.1. Technical Skills.

OJT-Lite and Structured Mentorship. In-depth introduction to the company and the basic outline of our job scope by the HR department. Colleagues and supervisors assisted us along the way and aided whenever we are in need. If new tasks were assigned to us interns, our mentor would promptly explain and demonstrate it to us. Job prospects includes Fintech developer and DevOps Engineer.

Summary. My experience working at STYL Solutions has been enjoyable but somewhat lacking, as the work I do does not fully utilize the engineering knowledge I have gained from Nanyang Polytechnic. Despite this, I truly had fun going to work everyday, interacting with my colleagues and encountering different types of people on-site. I have learned countless valuable lessons and skills which I will never forget such as effective communications, time management and problem-solving skills. I am excited to carry these lessons and experiences forward in my future endeavours. I am forever grateful to have the opportunity of working at STYL Solutions for my 24 weeks ITP..
