Diet plays a very crucial role in controlling and managing various diseases,especially lifestyle diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and obesity. A therapeutic diet is a meal plan that controls the intake of certain foods or nutrients. It is part of the treatment of a medical condition and are normally prescribed by a physician and planned by a dietician. A therapeutic diet is usually a modification of a regular diet. Clinical dietitians help hospital patients and the elderly in nursing care facilities by determining their nutritional needs. CASE STUDY. THYMOMA. . “ TYPE OF TUMOR GROWTH IN THE THYMUS GLAND ”.

INTRODUCTION. Thymoma is uncommon & Slow growing neoplasm. Thymoma and thymic carcinoma are types of cancer that begin in the thymus. The thymus is located under the breastbone, also called the sternum. It is a small organ that is part of the body’s immune system A thymoma is a tumor originating from the epithelial cells of the thymus that is considered a rare malignancy. Thymomas are frequently associated with neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis; thymoma is found in 20% of patients with myasthenia gravis The 15-year survival rate is 12.5% in patients with invasive thymomas and 47% in patients with noninvasive thymomas . Deaths related to thymomas usually occur from cardiac tamponade or other cardiorespiratory complications..

MYASTHENIA GRAVIS. Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease that impairs communication between NERVE & MUSCLE. It Causes weakness in the Skeletal muscles, which body uses for movement..

There are no known risk factors for the development of thymomas or thymic carcinoma. The etiology of thymic neoplasms remains unknown. There is a strong association of thymomas with myasthenia gravis and other paraneoplastic syndromes. Thymic carcinomas are very rare and make up only 0.06% of all thymic tumors ..

TREATMENT. Surgery is the primary treatment for thymoma . The success of the surgery depends upon the particular characteristics of the tumor and its precise location; tumors have a higher surgical cure rate if physicians can remove them completely. If all evidence of disease is unable to be removed and microscopic, or tumor remains after surgery, then radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy drugs have been used in addition to surgical resection..
