What is the (IoT)?.

Scene 4 (18s)

In a nutshell, Internet of Things (IoT) is the concept of connecting any device to the internet and to other connected devices. The IoT is a giant network of connected things and people, all of which collect and share data about the way they are used and about the environment around them. That includes an extraordinary number of object of all shapes and sizes. For example, smart microwaves , which automatically cook your food for the right length of time and self-driving cars , whose complex sensors detect objects in their path.

Scene 6 (53s)

Devices and objects with built in sensors are connected to an Internet of Things platform, which integrates data from the different devices and applies analytics to share the most valuable information with applications built to address specific needs. These powerful IoT platforms can pinpoint exactly what information is useful and what can safely be ignored. This information can be used to detect patterns, make recommendations, and detect possible problems before they occur. With the insight provided by advanced analytics comes the power to make processes more efficient. Smart objects and systems mean you can automate certain tasks, particularly when these are repetitive, mundane, time-consuming or even dangerous. Let’s look at some examples to see what this looks like in real life..

Why is IoT System Importance.

Scene 12 (3m 20s)

Since device have multiple sensors, they can acquire considerable data from numerous sources, giving them more information to work with when acting on data received. Massive amounts of data are being collected and sent back to companies each day to improve features on their devices. Better decision making.

What is The History of IoT?.

Scene 14 (4m 7s)

The term Internet of Things is 23 years old. But the actual idea of connected devices had been around longer, at least since the 70s. Back then, the idea was often called “embedded internet” or “pervasive computing”. But the actual term “Internet of Things” was coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999 during his work at Procter&Gamble . Ashton who was working in supply chain optimization, wanted to attract senior management’s attention to a new exciting technology called RFID. Because the internet was the hottest new trend in 1999 and because it somehow made sense, he called his presentation “Internet of Things”. Even though Kevin grabbed the interest of some P&G executives, the term Internet of Things did not get widespread attention for the next 10 years. In 2000, LG announced the first smart refrigerator, in 2007 the first iPhone was launched and by 2008, the number of connected devices exceeded the number of people on the planet. In 2009, Google started testing driverless cars and in 2011, Google’s Nest smart thermostat hit the market, which allowed remote control of central heating..
